@VeroniqueB99 only the one rich man was told to give up everything. The diciples likely just left things with their kids / family which may have implied they could go back. Though fishers probably didn't have much to give up.
the one incident where people died was during the destruction of jewrsulem where non romans had everything taken away so leaving with the roman members of the church was the best you could do - hoping they could put it to good use. Don't try to generalise that situation as there is plenty of evidence it only applied there and then.

Didn't have to be guillotine, it just was that the world was set up in such a way that that just...happened. Through accidents, disease, what have you. and copyright has a near endless license. No one needs 70+ years after the life of the author for any licensing, especially software where this power is heavily abused.

It is more a symbol of the French revolution and therefore the "WE the people" ruling (in the US they simply hung people from the nearest tree)... a symbol of refusing to be governed by a 'royal' class whatever shape it takes.
