GOP Senators voted to cancel Donold’s tariffs on Canada. I almost forgot that Congress could rebuke him if they really wanted to.

@godpod One can hopefully be forgiven for forgetting they can do stuff they pretty much never actually do.

Up there with things like controlling the declaration of wars and such.

@godpod

Unfortunately this was just a symbolic action. The House would need to pass it too.

@mastodonmigration @godpod And then they would need a 2/3 majority in both houses of Congress to override 47's obvious veto?

That would basically never happen given it barely passed the Senate.

@godpod They will get ignored regardless of what they do though. There is no or else to ignoring their actions.. just like there is no or else to ignoring judicial orders.

@godpod

The House won't though.

Full of Cultists.

@Bandersnatch @godpod
Definitely not my rep, since he posted this within the last two days:

“As President Trump fights to secure the border, cut our taxes, and usher in the Golden Age of America,”

Mike Flood-R(NE) is a full on cultist.

@godpod in the CR, the House included a clause that makes it impossible to vote on such a resolution. So Senate passed theirs as a message but knowing it has no way to by ratified by house. Also the « reciprical » tariffs have a clause that if the Fentanyl tariffs are removed a reciprocal tariff of 12% applies to the same goods covered by the Fentanyl one.
@godpod They could, but only if they've the balls to threaten him with impeachment. But they don't. So their laws - the only laws the Constitution permits - mean nothing right now.
