The Israelis hunted down 15 paramedics from the Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS) and other civil servants in Gaza, killed them one by one, and then dumped their bodies in a mass grave. This was last week, 23rd of March.

Workers on a mission to help colleagues were buried in mass grave in southern Gaza, says humanitarian office

@ayoub it also enrages me that they keep repeating the lie, at the end of the article, that Hamas killed 1,200 Israelis on October 7th when that number includes all the Israelis killed by Israel itself (Hannibal Doctrine).
@magnus @ayoub do you know of any estimates of how many of the ~1200 killed that day were killed by Israel?
@prex @ayoub none that are reliable, because Israel never allowed any proper investigation. But many. There was friendly helicopter fire on people heading back to Gaza, air strikes on a military base, tank fire on at least one of their own illegal settlements
@prex @ayoub my guess would be hundreds of Israelis killed by friendly fire on October 7th and the immediate days afterwards

@ayoub

Leadership at Al Jazeera wanted this. They pushed hard to shift blame to Biden for Republicans' sending weapons and support.

Get rid of Biden, then Harris, to bring back their buddy Trump.

@todymotmot are you saying that the democrats' campaign was so flimsy that it was knocked over by a middle eastern news service that barely anyone in the US reads/watches? 'Cause it sounds like it..

@naught101

Were you intending to "draw the line at genocide" perhaps? How's that going? πŸ˜”

I strongly believe that you're intelligent, capable of compassion, and capable of making wise political decisions.

But key to that is our ability to think for ourselves, and that means being willing to recognize that we all make mistakes.

Hope you find peace and grace and power in your own voice someday.

@todymotmot I'm not american, but if I was, I would have voted for democrats. Claiming that the democrats failed due to outside influence is ridiculous though. They've been losing touch with their electorate for decades.

@naught101
Apologies, I completely misunderstood you.

Except for the Dems, people are always trying to push their chosen narratives with "gotcha" moves. And the easiest way to block them is to preemptively guess which bizarre narrative they're high on.

I didn't mean to imply Al Jazeera took down the Dems on its own, or that Harris's campaign was weak.

Agree they've been losing touch with their base. IMO because people are becoming more cynical, naive, and fearful.

@todymotmot mmm.. If people are becoming cynical I think it's actually with good reason, because it's slowly been becoming clear for the last few decades that capitalism doesn't work for most people. Despite that the mainstream dems are still basically just presenting generic neoliberal policies, which don't acknowledge that reality.

Obamacare is an obvious exception, perhaps a few others here and there. The core narrative of the DNC is still neoliberal though, and it inspires no one.

@naught101
I disagree. The problem was that the Dems went too far left. Under centrists like Obama, they won. But Biden stopped drone wars, fought relentlesdly for a Gaza ceasefire. Pushed for taxes on the wealthy, expanded healthcare and higher wages to millions. Protected unions, passed green energy infrastructure and hammered away at 20 different angles to get massive amounts of student loan debt forgiven.

And suddenly White male progressives didn't feel the Dems were inspiring? Hmm....

@naught101 @todymotmot

"fought relentlessly for a ceasefire" i guess i live in another dimension?

Obama ran not as a centrist but as a progressive, he also galvanized young people, unlike making public speeches telling them to stfu about palestine

Biden also didn't stop "drone wars" what? when did that happen?

@scrum

Yes, you do.

In my dimension, Biden achieved a ceasefire and stopped drone wars. And we all know that Republicans have been openly grooming the US population and Israeli government for genocide since TV preachers in the 1980s realized the anger and fatalism would increase their cash flow.

Also Obama was a centrist who kept up the drone wars. And logical people judge whether someone is centrist by their policies, not their age, skin color, or chosen campaign slogans.

@naught101

@naught101

Yes, swings were similar across demographics. There was increased suppression of Black voters, and different misinformation targeting different groups.

Get on any "progressive" American social media group and you'll hear the people who didn't vote for Harris loudly giving their chosen excuses. The delusional patterns are easy to find.

@ayoub
When is far too much going to be "enough" to end this horror?
@ayoub This is so disgusting.
