United Kingdom has a standing military of 138,000 personnel. France has 205,000, Germany 186,000.*

I wonder - with the United States basically under the control of Putin, does that leave Russia freer to think about using nuclear weapons on the battlefield? It's not like Trump is going to launch a retaliatory strike on his BFF and role model.
@randahl I can't recall which CIA director said this, but the quote is along the lines of "the British can do with 40 people what it takes us 400 to do".
I'm no militarist nor any sort of patriot (the whole concept of unconditional loyalty to nation-states and flags, baffles me), but will concede that our personnel are among the best-trained in the world.
