Going in blind to Days Gone, with only a vague understanding of what it’s about. Always love a game that looks great and gives me 4K60 maxed out!
Firewatch looks different from last time I played
Photo Mode? Don't mind if I do!
OK, I have learned that Days Gone is very Far Cry, in a Horizon Zero Dawn X The Last Of Us kind of way. And there's an upgradeable motorbike to get you from place to place. Zombie apocalypse Far Cry works for me!
Who has two left thumbs and accidentally alerted the zombie horde? This guy.
Days Gone really is a looker — very much enjoying it so far
I'm surprised there haven't been more open-world zombie apocalypse games in this format. Especially when somebody seems to think twenty seven seasons of The Walking Dead is a good investment
I had no expectations for Days Gone, and I have been pleasantly surprised at every turn. Its presentation on PC is outstanding, which is why I think it's been much better reviewed than the PS4 original. It's nice to see a game have a whole second life when it moves to a new platform
Recently picked Days Gone back up in the hope that I can quickly finish it and reclaim my disk space, but holy moly does that game go on forever. Not in a bad way, I’m really enjoying it, but the sprawling mission system makes it impossible to beeline your way through the main quest, and I would totally be happy now if there were a ‘do this mission to immediately finish the playthrough' option
Honestly, I think the narrative in Days Gone is S-tier; I hope that the upcoming console remaster will give it a second lease on life, like the great reception it had on PC (it got an IGN 6.5/10 on console originally, but is sitting at a 92% on Steam). It's much richer and deeper than you would expect from ‘some zombie game’
At hour 30, the world map doubled in size, and several new quest hubs and enemy types were revealed 😅 So much for a quick finish!

Roll credits at 47 hours (and yes I know there's more after that)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★, would buy the sequel

Reeling from the final twist/secret ending you get in Days Gone after 8 in-game days. Haven't had a 'wait, WHAT?’ like that in a long time 😂

If this game never gets a sequel, it would be criminal

@stroughtonsmith I'm still mad that Bend Studio was in the GaaS mines for 5 years, only for the game to be canceled, when we could have had Days Gone 2 right around this time.
@stroughtonsmith Curious what you’re referring to here? Just finished the main quest line (to the credits) at ~60h played. Is there something else coming apart from completing side quests? By 8 in-game days do you mean 192h played? Because in game days is way more than 8 for me by now.
@stroughtonsmith Or do you mean +8 in-game days after the credits rolled?
@finestructure +8. There are a series of (very short) quests after the ending, and they trigger every couple of in-game days
@finestructure (you’ll know you’re done when it tees up a sequel)

@stroughtonsmith Gotcha, thanks for clarifying!

And thanks for your game commentary. It put the game on my radar at the time 🙂

@stroughtonsmith shame that the sequel was canned.
@woolie let's see how this remaster does? A second life would be fitting for a zombie game
@stroughtonsmith Care to share why you like it so much?
@jeremys I thought I did, in the previous posts in this thread!
@stroughtonsmith Looks amazing, I really should play it
@stroughtonsmith it’s pretty good I thought, but at some point it just became too much. Ended up not finishing it

@stroughtonsmith Funny! I got the game last year based solely on your recommendation and the beautiful screenshots you posted, and it’s now one of the very few games I finished. (Still playing it currently taking out the remaining hordes!) It’s great, the voice acting is amazing and the ending is lovely and deserved!

Can’t believe I overtook you! 😆

@stroughtonsmith These screenshots alone make me want to get it…
