Jigsaw City | Royal Road

Nicole Jacobs is twenty years old and unsure what direction to take in life, because the opportunities available to her are too numerous and no one job fits all of her talents, but she passes the time doing research on dragons. To that end, she hatches a dragon egg, but in the midst of the harrowing work required, she dreams of the ancient, magical (...)

Royal Road

@OwenTyme

Wow
I love your book cover!

@hestervelmansauthor Thanks.

I spent an inordinate amount of time making that coin mostly from scratch in Inkscape. It went through at least a dozen iterations before I was happy.

@OwenTyme Totally get that! The right details make all the difference. What kind of coin is it?

@hestervelmansauthor I call them coins, but they're not actually money.

Kurg is a magic city that folds up into little pieces, about the size of a coin. In fact, any attached collection of pieces can be folded into a single "coin", which makes it handy and portable. Each piece basically has a pocket dimension attached to it, which holds the contents, as needed.

@OwenTyme That sounds incredible like a mix of magic, architecture, and pocket dimensions all in one. The possibilities for how people use and trade these "coins" are endless. I’d love to hear more! Want to continue the conversation over email?

@hestervelmansauthor That's up to you. My E-mail has always been publicly listed on my profile and website.

You can read a little more about the series here: https://owentyme.us/books/jigsaw-city/index.html

And now I've noticed a horrible layout issue I need to fix on that page, which I somehow missed when I updated it this morning. *sigh*

Alternatively, you can follow the link to Royal Road in the original post, which will take you to the first chapter. More will follow every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Owen Tyme - Jigsaw City

Jigsaw City is a sequel series to The Wizard’s Scion, centered around the life of Levi’s daughter, Nicole Jacobs, and her quest to reunite the pieces of a magical city that was broken up millions of years before she was born.

Owen Tyme - Science Fiction and Fantasy Author
@OwenTyme Ah, the joys of website tweaks—at least you caught it early! Jigsaw City sounds fantastic; love the time travel noir vibe. How’s Royal Road working for you so far? I’ve debated serializing but haven’t taken the plunge yet.

@hestervelmansauthor I rather like Royal Road. It's relatively easy to build a following there, it would seem, so long as you write sci-fi or fantasy.

The first piece I posted there is hitting an average of 37 reads per chapter. Half of that seems to be coming from my social media posts, though. For the days I forgot to post last week, my numbers really dropped.

Here's a link to that: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/102509/the-book-of-newts

I hope at some point, people will be enticed to buy my other books.

The Book of Newts | Royal Road

Home, safety, and a place to belong – they seem so easy to find, at least for everyone but Amelia Blackwell and her sisters, who run from accusations of witchcraft at every turn. It started so simply, with a book. No one might have predicted that a book apparently filled with pictures of newts might lead to so much trouble, but The Book of Newts is (...)

Royal Road
@OwenTyme Sounds like Royal Road is working well for you! 37 reads per chapter is a great start. The Book of Newts looks intriguing, I’ll check it out. I couldn’t find your email there, though. Mind sharing it?
