In other news, the fact that we buy so much lumber from countries like Canada has become a national security threat, says the White House. Translation: We're going to start cutting down a lot more trees here in the US of A!
@briankrebs Going full Mordor
@georgebaily That took me a second but lol well done
The Lord of the Rings - Rip Them All Down

YouTube
@briankrebs Saruman looked into the palantir and Sauron showed him compromising golden shower tapes from that wild weekend when they were together planning the Rohan Towers resort

@georgebaily @briankrebs

send a message to treebeard!

maybe he and the ents will give us a hand with trump and his dwarfs..

@briankrebs how long do you think before they start logging national parks? The selloff of the park system is an increasing worry with this administration...
@kryptec @briankrebs Can't drill, baby, drill if it's all full of annoying trees

@kryptec @briankrebs probably immediately.

‹ woke fires, liberal hurricanes, we need wood now and the parks already have roads to the trees ›

@briankrebs Hey that’s a lot of land we should be developing into real estate!

@bedast @briankrebs given that Canadian lumber is owned by the crown and managed as a crown corporation, I dont really trust the alternative American capitalism/exceptionalism to manage its forests from a business perspective.

We need forest conservations and instead we have “drill baby drill” in the office.

TLDR Canadians understand lumber as a renewable resource. Americans tend to maximize extraction for the benefit of the current generation over all else (cough boomers)

@bedast the landslides will be "the greatest, the most beautiful landslides you have ever seen, and the people, the people all saying Thank you Mr. President. Does everybody know what a condom is?"
@briankrebs
@bedast @briankrebs
Once it's cleared of those damn trees you can build casinos and internment camps!
@AlisonW @briankrebs Nah, we’re all about making more Mar A Lagos!
@briankrebs I guess the trees can't burn if they don't exist.

@briankrebs

It's only a national security threat if Canada becomes an enemy instead of an ally.

How could that possibly happen?

@briankrebs never knew wood was a threat to national security before this announcement. I always thought of it being to computer chips and technology et al.

@briankrebs

Oh yeah, Republicans are going to try to sell off all the national parks.

@briankrebs or is it darker and they need to start building up a false pretense for war?
@briankrebs Conserving our natural resources is national security. Where will we as a nation be if the resources we need have all been expended and no one will provide them to us at any cost for any host of reasons. More dumb immediate profiteering at our children's expense.
@briankrebs That regime uses “national security” whenever they feel “there’s money in it” is inappropriate. Started with Greenland claims (it feels so long ago already)
@briankrebs Extending "slash and burn government" to, well, the place the saying came from in the first place! :/

@briankrebs

Yes they want to grab the land and put up golf resorts.

@briankrebs

Can't build F-35s without 2x4s, apparently.

@briankrebs

Any bets he starts with the sequoias?

@briankrebs
There will come a point where the rest of the world decides the safest option for the next four years is to build a wall around the USA and leave you to your own devices. There might be exits for people escaping but no goods in or out. It's the only way, really sorry.
@briankrebs Correct translation, but don't forget the undertone of "Canada is now an enemy."

@briankrebs

Monkeywrenching should take another green look at tree protection here in the USA.

@briankrebs what trees? The reason we buy them from Canada is that we already cut down most of ours.
@briankrebs JFC he’s such a moron. This is what we get from a guy who bankrupted FOUR CASINOS!!! Those places practically print money.
