Let's be totally clear.
The ONLY reason the Trump administration is censoring the words climate change and destroying federal climate science is to keep profits rolling into the fossil-fuel industry a little longer, at the cost of the planet.
@petergleick
Yes. But also they totally believe what they are saying, that it's a hoax designed to hurt them specifically. They believe it because it enriches them, but they still believe it. They're that stupid.

@petergleick I disagree. tRump wants Greenland because it will be prime real state as the climate continues to warm. He’s expecting climate change and planning for it.
@slott56 @petergleick it’s also gunna be super strategic once the ice caps melt 😔
And it’s got uranium ore 😭
@petergleick not only they also want to remove the people who can call their BS

@petergleick you are fully discounting the possibility that he is also doing this out of sheer spite? or at the behest of his Russian buddies who even to this day want a warm water port and arctic dominance?

I do not think it's his only reason.

@petergleick

How much tax revenue do the states and the federal budget earn from fossil activities, is that known?
Do the companies pay taxes – and how much, also compared to a small company with for example 10 workers installing PV or heatpumps ?

@petergleick Cause they're a bunch of old guys who don't ,give two fucks about the world they leave behind.
Quite the contrary in fact, they enjoy leaving a mess behind. That's how rotten they are.

@petergleick

Trump is censoring information about climate change to reward his fossil fuel industry donors.

After all, they bought an election for Republicans.

The only thing the GOP does, going forward, is use tax dollars on donor maintenance.

US policy is available for sale to the highest bidder.

Investments ‘likely to pay dividends’, analysis says, as Trump unleashes dozens of pro-fossil fuel executive actions

If some moderate or liberal billionaires did some of the bidding, we could keep the ship upright.

@stargazersmith @petergleick

Democracy-supporting billionaires get targets painted on their backs by the GOP.

Or worse, bombs delivered to their homes by Qrazies. It's what fascist blackshirts do.

Discretion is advised for pro-democracy billionaires, the support is desperately needed.

At George Soros’s Home, Pipe Bomb Was Likely Hand-Delivered, Officials Say

The motive of the would-be bomber behind the explosive, found in a mailbox at the billionaire philanthropist’s home in a New York suburb, remains unclear.

@petergleick this is exactly why I would love to see upper limits on age for president or Congress. Old ppl won't be around to deal with the increasing fallout from climate. We need representation from ppl who have skin in the game for the future
@petergleick In Trump's view, "America First" means America shall not blink first. Putting American businesses up front in all federal policies means exactly what we're seeing: stop leading any industry backoffs for the sake of climate, and put an end to wars so that American developers can build their Gaza Riviera, and make Ukrainian mineral deals, and anything else that prioritize business opportunities today over global stability rooted in justice.
@petergleick the planet does not care, it will continue to exist. Humans should care, because they need the planet to stay as much as possible as it is today.
@petergleick I think it's also to create more division and unrest within the country as it definitely is an observable pattern in many of his group's actions. Often, it's not about direct benefits, like in this case I believe the indirect benefits of long term unrest in USA will be even more significative for China/Russia alliances(like SCO) than any petrol deal.
@petergleick Shuttering EV, Trump is actully going to cost Americans versus saving money.
