Hello everyone! I've been around fedi for a while on my own Mastodon server, but I've now decided to join beige.party at @jessica's recommendation - so here's my new #Introduction!

In a mid-30s cis man from Bristol, UK. I mostly toot about #genealogy, #esperanto, and #gramophone records. I also play a bunch of musical instruments and arrange classical and folk music for ukuleles and ocarinas, and occasionally play them in videos.

I've been pretty quiet on fedi for a while, but hoping to get more involved with the community again now!

@thomas a #gramophone lover from #Bristol ? you maybe know the band #Movietone and its male version #Crescent ? They are gramophone lovers.
@pasqualeberesti I don't, but will have to look them up! Thanks for the recommendation!
@thomas Do you combine Esperanto with your #genealogy research? I've tried to, as I research distant ancestors in Mexico. The living relatives in Mexico speak only Spanish and I speak only English and Esperanto.
@billmania Not directly, although I did do a talk about genealogy for a local Esperanto group a few years ago. I also research the history of Esperanto music, and the skills are pretty transferable - mostly for newspaper research etc. I did do a little bit of genealogy for the singers of the first ever Esperanto record from 1926: https://eomusichistory.com/posts/esperinst
Esperinst

In my first ever post on this site, I mentioned that it was difficult to find out any information about what the very earliest Esperanto record was, and so began my blog by writing about the earliest LP. Today I think I may have an answer to that question - at least, I have some more information about two of the earliest Esperanto records, and I strongly suspect that they were the very first ones.
