BLAH I'm actually giving yet another public talk tonight. I'm updating the one I did 5 days ago. Turns out there were 30 fewer Starlink satellites in orbit 5 days ago.

Over 7,000 Starlink satellites in orbit now, out of over 7,900 launched.

They've already burned up 900 Starlink satellites in the atmosphere. Because disposability is the way of the future!

Fuck.

@sundogplanets thinking of a slide plotting time vs satellites in orbit/burned up, with ticks on the X axis for when you've given this talk?
@trurl haha. Satellites burning up vs. time is in my talk. I should add ticks for my talks though. Or maybe that's too depressing...
@sundogplanets Given nothing except Tesla that Musk has done turns profitable, I wonder what the odds are that the company goes under and they all come down.
@glennf @sundogplanets SpaceX is profitable, they made about 4 billion last year based on estimates. Starlink drove the change and they’ve been profitable since 2023.
@Laukidh @glennf @sundogplanets Yes, they profit, and the environment pays.
@Laukidh @sundogplanets Well, hush my mouth. I honestly have ignored it for so long that now I’m inaccurate

@glennf
Could it be that the Muskrat is getting through funds so fast that he needs direct access to the US treasury or all his businesses will go bust?

Trump was a bad businessman too - bullying tactics, lying about success and rolling in debt. It's looking like that is the Muskrat's business model.

@sundogplanets

@sundogplanets I wish reliance on it wasn’t the only option where we live.
@sundogplanets I'm not religious, but you're doing the Lord's work.

@sundogplanets

"move fast and break other people's shit", doncha kno

@sundogplanets
It's horrendous really. Hate this whole BS
@sundogplanets do you know how big they are?

@sundogplanets I wonder if this is signaling that Starship will be launching Starlink V2 satellites soon.

As there's no longer a FAA standing in the way anymore.

Get ready for a rapid fire cadence of unexpected RUDs falling soon.

@sundogplanets Not only are we trashing the planet but also space. We are so good at shitting in our own nest. Not a great way to ensure future existence.

@sundogplanets @iveyline Well, "we" as a humanity certainly have screwed it up.
But what "we" really have done is vote for jackasses to power positions, who then refuse to regulate the corporations so that this punished for.

The belief in the invisible hand and "job creators" is so massive, that it completely outweighs any concerns about environment.

Profits for the greedy few, problems for all the rest and future generations.

@sundogplanets They're launching those suckers all the time.
@sundogplanets so what all does this contribute to the planets atmosphere?
