Need a break from all the atrocities? Me too.

So here they are, FINALLY! #LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation Befores and afters.

#PortMoody #BC #Canada

BIG plug for our absolutely wonderful contractor, Raphael Belanger, Noble Fir Homes https://www.noblefir.ca

Can't recommend him highly enough.

Next: With huge apologies, all the alt texts will do me in. I'm fried. So, please, #AltText4Me this once.

2/ Starting from the bottom up: Basement, which we call the Enchanted Dungeon bc we threw every faux foliage/flower we had down there, along with anything that wouldn't fit upstairs. (you'll get a glimpse of all of the foliage off to the right in the long view)

The Before will always be first, I hope.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

3/ The Enchanted Dungeon bathroom.
#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

4/ Den/family area (tiny) right off the kitchen.

This one will take up a couple of posts.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

6/ Entry, dining room

2 views, so it'll alternate before/after.

Why yes, there is a wine theme in that room. The chalkboard way in the back says, "Must have wine NOW!" The artwork depicts... wine.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

7/ Looking in from near the dining area into the living room.

The guy who did our millworker, all the wood you see, is an artist. He designs speakers or something. He does this on the side, and is a perfectionist. All the wood additions are his.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

8/ Buncha pics of the stairs because sooo good. Multi post.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

10/ Living room time! Mutli posts on this one. 2 befores.

(and yes, I designed everything. Including all the millwork. Thank you for your kind words!!)

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

11/ Living room, contd. 2 befores.
#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

12/ Kitchen. Most of the kitchen was done already. We lifted off the quartz countertop so we could enlarge and improve the sink (Silgranit sink by Blanco), new fridge, new lighting, stools, not much else.

2 befores.

We painted the entire house, added the batten board in kitchen-den/main bedroom to create accent walls.

Multi post. #LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

13/ Kitchen, cont'd.

(Their sink was stainless, divided, and small, btw)
#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

14/ Heading upstairs. Up the first 3 steps is the powder bath, or as everyone calls it, the Zen Bathroom. In our Calif house, I designed a bathroom that for some reason, people went nuts over, kept calling it the Zen Bathroom. So of course, I needed to design another one, totally different.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

15/ Upstairs hall bath. I won't post pics of our offices. All we did was paint and stick our office stuff in.

We added new baseboards everywhere, too, like 6 inch ones. So cool.

Here you go. #LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

16/ These pics, btw, do not do the place justice. They look darker, when in fact, we have skylights and tall windows all over the place.

Main bedroom.

Remember when we built the Behemoth? Oy, what a job. Here it is in the context of the completed room.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

17/ Finally, we get to the end. A multi post.

Main bathroom. We didn't have to redo tile, but every bathroom has all new fixtures, vanities/sinks, lighting, etc. In this shower, we lucked out, just had to change out the fixtures. Which wasn't so easy, btw. Added a fan too. We have 2, one in the throne room, one in the main area. No windows, so it can get too moist.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me
(🤭our twins' dog photo bombed!)

19/ Just for fun, here's our little yard, and a view from the back. We have a forest right outside the back of our place, steps away (see snow pic w/ gate). We're the middle unit of 3, only 20 in entire complex.

The 1st is a before. We cleaned up the overgrowth, added black Mexican pebbles, took away the rubber stepping stones & divider hedge. Faux turf was there. We'll plant in spring.

#LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation #AltText4Me

20/ That's a wrap of #LaffysBigTownhouseRenovation! Finally. Thank you for your interest and your patience! I had loading issues, had to restart my Mac.

I'll read your replies soon.

We are so grateful every single day that we got the exact place in the exact location that we wanted.

We came in on budget for the reno, and below budget for the purchase itself.

We love #PortMoody #BC #Canada to bits.

If I have anything else to add, it'll be on this thread.

Many many thanks.

@GottaLaff Wow, these are across-the-board brilliant updates! I love everything you've done!

@GottaLaff definitely need to hire you for our kitchen/bathroom renovation lol.

We're seeing a designer/firm in a few weeks, can't wait.

Looks amazing well done!

@emd You'll have so much fun!
@GottaLaff ya we’re pretty pumped. I think we’ve decided to just load up our next mortgage and do everything we want both inside and outside the house.

@GottaLaff

Beautiful place insde and out. You've got a knack for design.

Congratualtions!

@GottaLaff Lovelovelove it all.
@SueDiOh Yay!!!!
@GottaLaff Tell me - does it feel great to be done, or at least almost? Because I've been here almost 9 years and still finishing the basement. Ugh!

@SueDiOh LOL. We're completely done, took about 4 mos.

It feels great, but I miss the process.

@GottaLaff I am a bad decorator. I just pick what I like and try to make it work. And maybe you wouldn't miss the process if you weren't done so fast! hahaha
@SueDiOh I've done a few renos, and none took longer than 4 mos. I love every step
@GottaLaff Yes, well when it comes out as gorgeous as that! I'm totally stealing your color palette, btw. I'm putting up a barnwood wall in that dark gray like your couch and been looking for a wall color not too yellow but not too gray and i think sesame might do it. Then green at the other end of the room, similar to yours. Thanks for the inspiration!
@SueDiOh Oh yes! The colors: Gray-green, charcoal, black, very very pale blue, creamy light taupe, whites/creams. They look great together.
@GottaLaff I love the blues and greens. I've been stuck on wall color - too yellow, too orange, too brown, too gray. Sesame sounds perfect.
@SueDiOh Yeah, that took some real comparison shopping for colors. I took home a million samples
@GottaLaff
You did a beautiful job creating a little paradise for relaxing.
Thank you for sharing your renovation journey.
❤️
@GottaLaff thank you for sharing. Everyone transformed a house into a home. Love all the earthy touches. May you have some grounded peace in beautiful 🇨🇦
@GottaLaff Great shots. Thanks for sharing.
@WarnerCrocker Oh thank you! My pleasure
@GottaLaff
Super stuff there Laffy. You certainly have a great eye for restorations. Lovely to see Hammy as well.😍

@elessar83 Lol, Hammy.

Thank you!

@GottaLaff
Your house looks beautiful!! You did a wonderful job on it. You are a talented designer.
@GottaLaff It all looks spectacular. A lovely new home.

@GottaLaff

Congrats on the completion. Gorgeous. The reno looks more like a home now. The woods and colour palette have a modern PNW/Pacific Northwest feel to it. I think there's a nice contrast giving some depth & warmth but also some outdoorsy feel (if that makes sense)

@thegreenpagesBC It’s exactly what I was going for

@GottaLaff

It is absolutely gorgeous. You did a superb job decorating. Thanks for sharing!

@Atticus1956 Thank you!! I loved every minute
@GottaLaff
You did an outstanding job!
I got excited when I changed out my horrible vertical blinds for shears and drapes. 😂
You will have many happy years there.
Congratulations!

@MichelleRNCHPN Ugh, I remember those. yeah, they had heavy drapes and terrible blinds everywhere.

What a change.

THANK YOU

@GottaLaff How long of a renovation was this? It sounds quite extensive.
@mcourcel About 4 months? It would have been quicker, but some of the fixtures took forever to be delivered. So they worked on other things while we waited.
@GottaLaff Still not bad. Nicely done.
@mcourcel Yeah, really wasn't bad. Thanks!
@GottaLaff Those browns/taupes are tasty.
@StaceyCornelius It's funny bc I never went for warm tones before, usually cool. I love this.
@GottaLaff
The before and after for this upstairs hall bath is amazing. Wow.
@MichelleRNCHPN Yeah, that was a killer. And the funny part about that one is, they ran out of the white tile, so I said, well, can we bring the floor up the wall? It worked!
@GottaLaff
And I'll bet it looks even better than it would have. Great solution.
@MichelleRNCHPN It def does. It was one of those lucky mistakes
