Trump/MAGAs removed all of the plaques at USAID honoring murdered USAID officials who served this country. USAID had a wall commemorating them and Trumpers took the whole thing down. "That is a desecration of sacred space. For people who sacrifice themselves for the United States to be treated that way is outrageous."

@petergleick Every single thing like this is a violation, an erasure of American values and accomplishments, sacrifice. It is heart sickening and if it were the only thing, maybe you get past it. But now it’s a deluge. Biden said in his Statement remembering the lives lost in the pandemic, “To heal, we must remember.” It’s why we have statues, historical monuments , archives, libraries, museums. These memorials are the family album of our country. What they have done by taking down those photos erases the memory from our history, assaults our ability to heal.

@petergleick It also shows that there's no unifying ideals or goals among Magas. They have no idea what the purpose of dismantling the US aid program is they're just hearing the message "destroy" from their hero and zealously and indiscriminately doing what they think he wants.

This is what people who don't know what a moral core but desperately want one look like - copying their favourite talking heads in outrage, because values they knew nothing about yesterday are under attack by people they didn't know until Tucker told them. They couldn't pause for a second to think of the shame disgracing the dead would bring to anyone with a soul.

@petergleick I just wrote and deleted a few thousand characters in response. I hate what the 2-party system has done to us. It's evil. It abets Nazis. It destroyed the good that the Warren court and the reforms of the 60's gave us. Republicans hate minorities. Period. They are blatantly racist. Democrats are appeasers who kept negotiating away our rights and freedoms every damn time they bent a little for their fascist colleagues.

I'll stop now. I'm too angry to reply well.
