On my way to #FOSDEM. Now in #Stockholm.

This time I succumbed to market forces and took the cheaper ferry from Helsinki instead of the one from Turku. #StayGrounded

My #NightTrain was unusually late so I got the train to KΓΆln 4 hours later. (DB made it easy.) Half of my compartment was FOSDEM people.

On the KΓΆln-Bruxelles train I was surrounded by FOSDEM people, one coming all the way from Tornio/Haparanda.

I'm on the #ICE315 with a bunch of #FOSDEM people including #Codeberg and #oreboot! You can find me by my CO2 monitor. ;)

The switch in #KΓΆln was calm. I had time for a quick visit to the cathedral.

Funny Italian translations onboard.

Now on the #NightTrain to Stockholm. Our departure is postponed indefinitely (!!) while we wait for some passengers from Switzerland. (Good to know for the next time I come from Milan via Basel.) The company is good and I have 8 hours in Stockholm before catching my ferry, so I'm not concerned.

The bistro car is not with us yet, we'll probably recover it in MalmΓΆ.

There's no wifi on the passenger wagons. On the way to Hamburg we managed to use #Briar with bluetooth connection to swap messages up to 3 wagons far as long as we kept the phones out of the windows on the same side.

(You really need to open the windows to keep the CO2 down anyway.)

@nemobis
Mind your arm
@nemo_otlet Yes it's not very secure communication. :P
CO2 levels in the corridors of most wagons were around 1000 ppm. The best ventilated are the wagons with open seating as there are no doors. It took me some 2h with a fully open window to bring "my" wagon under 800 ppm. The bistro is almost empty so we're now under 500 ppm.

Finally home. Yesterday I worked from Stockholm central, went directly to the ferry. Such a pleasure to take the train in #Turku next to the ferry terminal once again.

@nemobis This was the same type of sleeping coach I took from Utrecht to Basel yesterday! These are former CIWL stock, as you can see from signs like this.
@bentsukun Makes sense! I could not locate such a sign here. RDC has renovated these wagons quite a bit: particularly obvious is the new electrical panel. My sleeping compartment was in 618050910289.
