Mark could speak up. He could take a stand. He could use even a fraction of his power to defend the institutions and principles he once claimed to cherish.

Instead, he cringes. He capitulates. He collaborates.

This man is a coward. And no amount of corporate jargon or performative masculinity can make that stain go away.

@Daojoan it's amazing, because he's begging before another powerful man that is arguably in many ways less powerful. Facebook and Meta have swayed elections. He could flex and make Trump beg, but he opted to bend the knee instead.
@Daojoan I was just thinking this this morning. No matter what your definition of "masculine" is, I'm pretty certain we can agree he ain't it. Also, he's a bad person.
@Daojoan He has no principles other than to enrich himself.
@Daojoan He is missing a backbone…
@wiekkie70 @Daojoan That's not lack of a backbone, that's lack of any morality other than the morality of money and power.
@Daojoan Aye, and apparently he still has more arse-kissing to do in the eyes of the orange führer's inner circle.
@Daojoan I don't think it's cowardice. I think it's greed.
@AlgoCompSynth @Daojoan I think it's fear.
@JosjeT @Daojoan Fear of what? Trump throwing him in prison? That's bullshit! One of Trump's "lone wolves" making it past his security guards with a hammer? Also bullshit! Fear of being primaried? He's not elected. The only thing he has to fear is Meta's stock caving because advertisers don't want to share the megaphone with Nazis.
@AlgoCompSynth @Daojoan Danger is in the eye of the beholder

@JosjeT For Zuckerberg and Bezos it's pretty obvious they thought they would lose money in a Harris-Walz administration with a Democratic Congress on their coat-tails. So they supported Trump.

Musk and the other AI/crypto bros are flat-out libertarian / fascist / Nazis. They're not afraid of Trump; they're afraid of his absence. The only mystery to me is Tim Cook. I think he genuinely thinks he needs to mollify Trump. But I don't think any of the others are afraid of Trump.

@Daojoan
"...But history will see him clearly: a child who would not become a man, a vacuum who traded his principles for proximity to power, a peon who sacrificed everything he claimed to believe for a seat at an authoritarian's table..."

🤔
Yeah. There's a lot that going around lately. It's called selling out. It could be argued it began when we started looking the other way with artists...

@Daojoan There's a lot of cowards in america!

@Daojoan You've seen this before? Zuck got his start with dough from the CIA and Thiel, right? So we're surprised why at recent developments?

With friends like these ...

Facebook has 59 million users - and 2 million new ones join each week. But you won't catch Tom Hodgkinson volunteering his personal information - not now that he knows the politics of the people behind the social networking site

the Guardian

@Daojoan he never had any principles ...

Since the beginning, he called uni students "dumb fucks".

Why should he change over time with more power and influence ?

What's bred in the bone comes out in the flesh.

@Daojoan

#Zuckerberg is a #collaborator with #fascists.

Perhaps he's collaborating because he's afraid. Perhaps he's collaborating with glee. I see not a bit of moral difference between the two.

@Daojoan robber barons only care about getting richer
@Daojoan He’s never cared about anything but money. He’s always been willing to do whatever it takes to make sure the money keeps coming in so he can be like a dragon with its hoarde
@Daojoan
I prefer to call him a ... fuckbubble
@Daojoan I mean performing masculinity within the patriarchy is one of the purest forms of cowardly collaboration...
@Daojoan It's probably he's afraid that he might "accidentally" fall from the penthouse balcony of Trump Towers.

@Daojoan At some point, EU will likely fine Mark personally AND Meta record amount of fine, just to make him back down on President’s agenda as leverage. They know he’s doing this just to avoid paying fines.

Mark’s basically trying to destroy world economy by igniting a trade war that no country can win.

@Daojoan
Too bad Harvard hasn't revoked his honorary Doctorate degree in law. What bold statement that would be.

@Daojoan

Well, you know, put yourself in his place for a second. He could lose a dime if he didn't collaborate.

It is not like he had a much of a choice.

@Daojoan
According to his first girlfriend, if girls laugh so much at him is not because he was a geek, but because he is an asshole.
@Daojoan
Indeed. I'm so tired of the word "coward" being applied to whistleblowers and other people who challenge the government and corporate elites. It's time we applied it to the actual cowards in the aristocracy.
@Daojoan Since he's so far been able to fend off most of the efforts of Congress to control him, and he has the wealth to afford an army of lawyers, and he's probably smart enough to know what Dr. T really can and can't do to him, one must assume that his collaboraation is willing. He does this not because he's afraid not to, but because he wants to.That goes for Bezos and the others, obviously Musk is all in on the nazi shit.
@Daojoan
Don't these fuckers have any self respect?
@Daojoan
We're talking about a man whose first endevour involved hacking into his university admissions datatbase and stealing people's data, specifically women which he then used in a webpage inviting visitors to vote on their "hotness", for which he got censured but not charged for illegal behaviour.

Still at university, his second endevour, involved stealing the idea and concept of a social yearbook website from the people who had hired him to code their version, which he sandbagged so
his version would be first to go visible, a feat which also involved using stolen log-in info to gain admin access to his paying client's server to delete user accounts (the fallout from this dogged him for years as the people he fucked over pursued him legally and he eventually settelled the cause for millions). The heat generated by his actions landed him on the radar of the university paper journalists whom he tried to make force to sign NDAs before talking to them and later hacked into their server to see what they wrote.

Recognise a pattern - obtaining and using userdata without permission in dubious and/or illegal ways. Cambridge Analytica. Setting up shell VPN companies to get at encrypted userdata. Shadow accounts ... I could go on.

He has made a career out of being a nasty little shit of a human with problems recognising boundaries, end of. He'd probably find the article hoping to shame him into being decent, funny.
@Theriac well fuck me for trying then hey
@Daojoan
That wasn't the point of my post and a I apologise I came across like that - it's good to be critical, to be vocal.
@Daojoan he is definitely a coward!
@Daojoan He is trying to gain power. I doubt he cherishes institutions other than Meta. Rather than a coward, he's a megalomaniac. By allying with Trump, he and other behavioral futures criminals can further cement their power and avoid being regulated by governments around the world. As far as I understand Professor Zuboff's take on things. Listen from 17:40 to hear her talk about Zuck. https://europecalling.podigee.io/b212-tech-billionaires

No, he's not a coward. He's a creep. Always was, always will be. The way he got started was by stealing fellow students' photos to rate their attractiveness to fellow creeps like him.

@Daojoan
@Daojoan @eva_chaos
‘Toxic masculinity’ is a well adopted phrase and I think we need ‘fragile masculinity’ alongside it.

@Daojoan Facebook/Meta is and has always been one of the most destructive and amoral platforms we've created.

Started as a way for Zuckerberg to enable him and his buddies perving over his fellow students while at university, it became a key driver of the kind of misinformation which has convinced half the voting public that fascism is cool.

It swayed elections, it pumped disinformation during Covid - killing thousands and it caused a genocide in Myanmar.

It's evil and so is he.

@BonehouseWasps omg i had no idea

@Daojoan I've not really had a Facebook account - I opened one, made one post, thought better if it and closed it again. This was at least 15 years ago. It always struck me as profoundly dangerous to give anyone that much data. I've not exactly been proved wrong (unusual for me 😆).

Zuckerberg is a pathetic, craven human being. He's created a monster and done effectively nothing to mitigate its damage. It's an atrocity and he's complicit.

@Daojoan Coward? Sure, maybe. But he started Facebook as a hateful and misogynistic website to mock the appearance of women at his college. The only reason he didn’t act like this before is because his corporate staff told him it was a bad look. He no longer cares about that, because he believes his monopoly cannot be toppled.

Boycott Meta.

@Daojoan
Tell it, Joan. Zuck has been selling users' data since 2016 when it was bought and then used against America to help elect trump. When I saw how many anti-Hillary ads on my feed were from RT and (briefly) Sputnik, I deleted my account.
F*ck Zuck.
