“Tim Cook Is Failing Us”

“So yes, I do hold Tim to a higher standard than these other robber barons, but that’s because Tim claims he holds himself to those high standards. I am measuring him against the ruler that he has provided and he comes up short.”

Tim Cook Is Failing Us

@joesteel Excellent job capturing all the "well, maybe he..." nuances.

@joesteel incredibly well put, thank you for this!

Only one minor thing I’d change: it’s better to use “cisgender” than “cisgendered” (though more of a thing when talking about trans people, where “transgendered” makes it sound like something that happened to us rather than just who we are ☺️)

@amyinorbit So sorry, of course. That wasn’t intended and I’ll change it when I get back to my computer.
@joesteel no problem! I hope me pointing that out was okay!
@amyinorbit Absolutely. I wouldn't have written “transgendered" but for some reason “cisgendered" slipped right through. I welcome any feedback like that.
@joesteel This recent post of mine has a different approach, but we fundamentally agree on the disappointment towards Cook. His donation to Trump has been the last straw for me, and I'm not going to purchase anything made by Apple for the foreseeable future. https://morrick.me/archives/9933
Do principles always have to lose when it comes to tech?

And when does pragmatism start becoming acquiescence through constantly choosing the path of least resistance?

@joesteel granted the company just pushed back against the new fed anti dei guidelines…threading the needle is a delicate subject
@joesteel Thanks for writing this, well said!
@joesteel @codinghorror it is strange; Trump has gone after trans-people so how long before he goes after the rest of LGBTQIA’s?
@joesteel Anyone at that inauguration should be reevaluated.
@joesteel Cook is an excellent leader. As someone who has Apple shares, I’m totally happy with his stewardship.
@joesteel Excellent piece. Thanks. 🙏🏻
