listening to @marcoarment on @atpfm talk about Apple squander its goodwill and advantages and the Creator Studio versions of Numbers / Pages are a prime example - turning good, free apps that make your platform useful into come-ons for service revenue. “Remove Watermarks" = “you don't want to be a chump, pay us money!”

I read the piece again and became even more disappointed.

2026: "Docter said Pixar found some parents didn’t want entertainment to force them to have a conversation they weren’t ready for with their children. “We’re making a movie, not hundreds of millions of dollars of therapy,” he said."

2009:

Read the Sony/TCL news and immediately thought of @siracusa

If you have family that doesn't understand the seriousness of all of this, perhaps you could send this link to those family members, a segment from the PBS Newshour. Maybe it will help open their eyes.

DHH's politics are not normal. Maybe they used to be, I don't know, but as of right now the dude is way outside of what most people would consider moral or acceptable.

If you go back to the WWDC session about Liquid Glass, you will notice that almost none of the examples they show actually look or animate like that in the final release, on any platform. Showing off bullshit fake vaporware UIs used to be Microsoft's thing, and a defining difference between design at the two companies. Sadly, not anymore. Turns out much of what they presented at WWDC was vaporware too
If Apple still had courage they would've opened the keynote with this. @atpfm
Just trying out betas of iPadOS really makes me despair. It’s like they saw spare cycles and RAM and said “what can we do to bring that to a crawl?” On top of all the bad UI decisions and “focusing on content” by muddying everything. First update in a long time I won’t be applying day one. Really hoping this doesn’t apply across the board but a design system means they’re making the same bad mistakes everywhere.

The amount of ╳ and ✓ icons on iOS and macOS increased *so much* with Liquid Glass, and it’s stupidly hard to know which of the many actions those two icons typically represent is the action the designer intended for any given placement. Stop it.

I’m an icon designer and I know that icons can’t be used for everything. Icons alone can be decent shortcuts for some things, but they cannot always be a substitute for text.
