It's #ScreenshotSaturday again, and although most of my recent work on #TaiFab 2 has been coding, I can share some WIP environment art (along with a @pixel_dailies entry for #PuzzleBox) πŸ˜„

Looks really cool, nice colors :)

@Beldarak Thanks! I started with the Indecision Palette (available on #LoSpec: https://lospec.com/palette-list/indecision) and I've been steadily modifying from there πŸ˜„

@objetdiscret

Nice one.

I never tried working with a palette as I find it a little too scary (and I'm never sure on how this works regarding rights), but that's on my todo-list for... someday :D

@Beldarak I don't know where you're located and I am not a lawyer, but the US Copyright Office seems fairly clear about this: "The Office cannot register a claim to copyright in color in and of itself or a system for
matching pairs and sets of colors." (https://www.copyright.gov/comp3/docs/compendium.pdf#page=80) πŸ™‚

It would be pretty bleak for people to claim sets of colors and not let anyone else use those combinations in different art 😬

(I checked this thread to find that citation: https://law.stackexchange.com/questions/87909/are-color-schemes-copyrightable)

@objetdiscret I did a double take, as I had just finished a retrospective on Link's Awakening. This looks really good! The scene reads very clearly and came out well
@EscGoat Thanks so much! I'd be lying if I said that Link's Awakening wasn't an aesthetic inspiration for me. πŸ˜„ That game has great vibes and art.

@objetdiscret It's such a good, imaginative game to be inspired by. Never before has a banana-selling alligator made dog food sound so appetizing.

I just found outβ€”apparently the THIEF nickname resets to normal if you overflow the byte where it's stored by stealing from the shop 254 more times.πŸ˜†

@objetdiscret @pixel_dailies The sprite work makes me happy, possibly because I'm a sucker for anything with a Game Boy Color vibe. The beach tiles are impressive, too.
