I have been mildly irradiated! X Ray results in about 2 weeks.

(Un)Fortunately, this means I must recant (some of) my rant.

come on, guys. Anime isn't THAT weird!

"Your underwear panda is now level 8."

Le sigh.

Then again maybe not.

X is terrible, but after the Meta news on explicitly allowing transphobia / transmisia, overall it's just been a tough week.
Idk what I have but my asthma attack started last week. Elevated neutrophils indicate bacterial infection, my GP said? So either it was "probably viral" like the OoH 111 GP said and became bacterial as well, or I was unlucky that it was bacterial to begin with.

I've been on Prednisolone, a corticosteroid since the 9th; then last night I started Doxycyline, an antibiotic, and Montelukast.
Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist, so it blocks leukotrienes, my patient pamphlet says.

Got a chest X ray out of it, at least. (Had back pain behind my ex-gallbladder since its removal anyway.)
Let this be a lesson not to lessen your mask discipline or stubbornness when other people peer pressure you to take risks with your health.
This is my first asthma exacerbation in a decade and I do not want to continue experiencing this. I do not recommend it. The people telling me I was 'paranoid', 'over-thinking it', 'worried about nothing' and more do NOT have to feel what I am feeling.

Teenage boys in public who choose to whine at me and intentionally coughing towards me (what?!!?) is super aggressive, creepy, entitled, and harmful to everyone witnessing that. Still, my upper and mid back has not stopped aching. I don't get fevers and I don't have a cough. Only you know your body.

Some people choose to care about harm reduction; others don't. Do right by yourself and do your sustainable best by others. I believe in you!

Looking for a song with Breathe in the title, chorus, lyrics, refrain, whatever, idk the right music words for it.

It was soon after people murdered George Floyd, I think. Or at least, that's when I first heard it.

I think it was a b/Black women who sang it, and idk if it was called "Breathe", "Just Breathe", or that was just a common line.

Anyone know it?
I know it was meant for b/Black people, BIPoC, BAME, etc racialised people, but it felt resonant with me at the time.
I really liked it -- or less "liked" and more "it felt like an actual gd human was acknowledging how fucked it was"?

Not the song I mean but found this on the way. https://www.musicianwages.com/w2/the-meaning-behind-the-song-breathe-by-angie-martinez/

"be very afraid"

Nah, be aware, stay prepared, maintain your flair! 😷

no, I'm not done complaining. My back still hurts, strong antibiotics or not.

jfc if you ever get prescribed doxycycline, they are NOT kidding about the "eat a full meal with your pill(s), sit or stand up, and drink a whole glass of water" advice!

It is not exaggerated.
You do not want epigastritis. Felt like molten wax with sticks.

Idea for videographers and bloggers:

A list of specific further resources under each video, specific to each sub-topic, and all linked in a broad list under the main topic.

That way, people can seek out further information with far less effort, and we can all feel a little more secure that people aren't getting fed (as much) wrong data or conclusions.

(All conclusions are biased; the point is to be aware of the bias and determine individually whether you think the points made are still valid in other contexts.)

Not to be all "woe is me", more... "clearly I live a very different life from most people".
Who the fuck has money for a holiday?

Last one I went on was a week to see uni friends in a city a few hours away.
Before that was... a week to see uni friends in a city a few hours away.
And before THAT was... a weekend in a different, nearer city.

I don't know how many years it's been for what most people would consider a "proper" or "sunny" holiday.
While I hesitate to add to fossil fuel industry profits or carbon emissions, I do generally feel better with more sunlight.

As hot and horribly muggy as it was, I still miss Japan. Therapist qualifications or bust, huh?

I'm doing a survey about disabled people taking vacations or going on holiday.
This questions is what you need for a room to be comfortable and accessible. Like, damn.

Cane, joint braces for knees and wrists, posture garment for back pain, all my pain relief medications, and my regular prescriptions.

Temperature regulation tools, very long compression socks, my tablet as a communication aide, plus my RGP night-only contact lenses with case and cleaner.

Ceiling light that does NOT shine downward and reflect off screens right into my aching face, then reflective or lit up corners and edges around stairs and steps or slippery floors.

Anything that most places should already have, frankly.

wow fuck I'm in pain again wtf? My pills were hours and meals ago!
What the hell man (/ ma'am / fam).

Like, behind the center of my spine, at heart elevation from the floor. Someone just tweezing that spot with some cotton wool. wtffff

Kids don't ask to be born.
Not every parent asked to become a parent; not every parent retrospectively wanted children.
Not every parent who claims to love and respect their progeny acts in line with that assertion.

It's okay to not want kids. It's okay to not be physically and emotionally comfortable around kids.
It's okay to feel irritated with how some parents make being a parent their whole personality, or describe it as a sacrifice (it is in many ways), or act as if they should be rewarded for doing so.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IObIe0uMW4k

If you are a parent (by choice, I hope, for everyone's sake), then you are entitled to ALL support you need to sustainably raise a whole-ass human from scratch or from adoption or otherwise.
Caretaking is an art, a science, an act of selfless love, and an ideal of connection with other living beings.
Not everyone is or should feel compelled to perform caring tasks for others.
There is nothing wrong with saying "no".

Hating Kids Isn't a Personality Trait | Rant

YouTube

"We probably have enough quiverfuls that nobody needs to worry about underpopulation at least. (Probably not. They're a TINY proportion of american fundamentalists, which is already a small chunk of people globally.)

But yeah. Kids are great: they should be cared for to the same standard as anyone else.
Parents, carers, caretakers, siblings, friends, and childcare staff all deserve the education and support to have or not have children, per individual and household ambitions.

No one asked to be born, even if they later enjoy the rest of life as they experience it. It's not fair to blame them for their existence. Anyone shoving that self-hatred onto them needs their own therapy.
And yes, adoption is important, and I understand it's not for everyone, but it is always an option.
Fostering is also an option if you're not sure, but still want to help someone and have the experience to better explore what you want in life.

(Kids will not fix your marriage. Kids will not fix your finances.
Kids will not fix your depression, though they MAY give you a 'reason' to live; that is NOT, imo, a good enough reason to saddle someone else with that huge responsibility.
However, some parents and carers do find responsibilities for other people to be protective factors.) "

anyway so post-capitalist world thoughts:

Slow travel! A combination of:
trams trains, busses, night trains, night busses,
night... trams?,
ferries, overnight ferries,
motorcycles, motorbikes, electric bicycles, electric scooters,
and ideally some helium (a different element from hydrogen) airships.

Or other airship designs! Idk, I'm not a damn engineer. Get on it, Scottie. And Welshie, and everyone elsey.

But then, we need to make land travel safer for all involved.
So not just passengers or tourists whizzing through, but:
People born there, moved there, living there, infrastructure staff, traders or merchants, longer visitors, and quicker visitors.

Good news! Treating genetic diseases but without the eugenic bullshit!
Literally just the therapeutic interventions!

If I get it right, imagine your class notes are all crumpled up.
You give them to a friend who missed class.
They can't read it so they think you just handed them your trash.
So you uncrumple the paper and flatten it.
They can read your notes now!

This will not help if your notes get burned or you weren't paying attention, etc.
Idk how to add double-recessive harmful genes to the metaphor.
