Hey new people, do you want help with using Mastodon? Feel free to ask by replying, or message me if you prefer. ๐Ÿ™‚ Any question is fine, there is no such thing as a stupid question!

There is also lots of help for beginners on the website at https://fedi.tips (especially in the "Quick Start" section at the top).

If you're just wondering what the heck is going on here and want someone to explain Mastodon briefly and simply, watch this video: https://tilvids.com/w/f747058d-3991-4046-a1c9-29c184daa0ff

@FediTips anyone knows an android client for Mastodon that has indented threads and collapse thread on click?

@wraptile

Hmm... not sure about that one. I'll boost it and see what others say.

@FediTips @wraptile Iโ€™m commenting to remember this thread. In my opinion the weakest part of most mastodon clients is how they handle threads.

My favorite so for is @elk but it doesnโ€™t collapse them like you suggest.

@dan

Hey by the way, there is a reminder bot on the Fediverse you can use to be reminded of threads:

Well this reminds bot is great, but I don't know the better way to use it to remember a thread.
Example, I would like to be reminded of this thread on "thread support on Android client".
What I did is copy the URL (on Tusky it is on the three dots in the toot footer, but on other clients it is on right in the upper bar) and sent a private toot to the remind bot like this:

@remindme dm 1 day
Threads in Mastodon:

It works, but not as simple as a reply.

@marczz

Could you do a direct reply to the thread itself, but with DM visibility and all mentions of people in the thread removed from your reply?

@FediTips
It works, but remind me is quite picky on the tile syntax 1 hour dm work but 1 minute dm does not work. The confirmation is sent in PST time zone, if it cannot use local time of the sender, it should send in UTC.
But the bad thing that I don't understand is that the bot messages don't appear in my timeline but are only threaded to my request, which completely defeat the use as a reminder. If somebody could explain that it will be useful.
