Some highlights from this week’s modeldrawing sessions. Longest poses where just 15 minutes this time. I would love to have longer poses, but the idea of a sketch having to be fresh and “pure” is very dominant here. I’m gessing it’s older artists that shun the idea of practice and study or maybe they have it all already figured out and just want to pump out as many drawings in a short time as possible. Like little factories.

I went to the first life drawing sessions this year. Still trying to figure out some things with digital painting in this. I feel I have to get more accurate with getting the colors and tones before I can better look for the design of shapes and the treatment of edges. In that regard, I regressed a little over the break.

I was hesitant to publish last weeks results because, frankly, I was a bit ashamed of how these turned out. That said, I do think that being in the flux of suck makes change and progress happen. So in a way im also happy that things aren’t going perfect with those figure studies. I’ll have to get more experience. Edit:sorry, forgot the alt text

Figure drawing went quite well this week I think. The model on Thursday has been amazing, she looked like one of those Bougereau girls. It was really frustrating to only have 20 minutes to draw her, then.

I’ve been feeling quite sick the last few days (caught the flu somewhere I recon). So I did get only one figure drawing session in last week. Went alright though, hopefully this week I’ll be back to me old self, I have deadlines to catch up to :(.

Posting another digital batch of figure drawings. I think this is the last time I will do for a while, since I feel like I got everything I wanted out of this. They start to feel same and I don’t get to learn as much. Time to switch mediums!
