On a mapping run - Bauhaus inspired grid map of europe. Each country is coloured by the first letter of their ISO name. ๐ŸŸ  ๐Ÿ”ต ๐ŸŸก

Maybe a little puzzle to figure out the grid I used ๐Ÿ˜…

Initial map made in #python using #matplotlib then refined in Figma. Code: https://github.com/Lisa-Ho/small-data-projects/tree/main?tab=readme-ov-file#012025-grid-map-of-europe

@LisaHornung Why's the UK in the D-G section?
@mudri because the ISO alpha-3 code for United Kingdom is GBR confusingly ๐Ÿ˜
@LisaHornung Ah, ISO name = county code? Makes sense as a data source.
@LisaHornung Also, where are the microstates? For example, I think Monaco (MCO) can't be there, because the 7 pink dots are for Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Moldova.
@mudri true. There are few missing like San Marino and Malta too. So maybe worth another version ๐Ÿค”
@LisaHornung @Kaetchi Nice. I donโ€˜t recognize Switzerland CHE?
@mavori yes that's correct โ˜บ๏ธ Most of the three letter ISO codes arent that intuitive ๐Ÿ˜…
@LisaHornung Is CHE not in Europe?
@mavori it is. Without going back to my code to check, I think I used the same grid layout as in this map. Here you can see where I placed Switzerland.
@LisaHornung Ah๐Ÿ˜. Well, Luxembourg left of CHE is hard to decode๐Ÿ˜
