What the hell, I have ~700 followers on blue sky?! I don't post *anything* over there. I don't think I've even logged into that account in over a year. How
this creates a fascinating perverse incentive for me to never post there now, because now I'm curious as to how high my blue sky follower count will artificially inflate itself without me ever posting there or promoting the account in any way at all
I wonder if I'm on any block lists over there yet 🤔 that would be really funny
I just can't get over how stupid and fake this is, but what absolutely boggles my mind is how expensive it must be for them to run it.
@aeva It's not fake yet. Expensive? Sure, must be. In five years they'll get bought by some muppet and the cycle will begin again. But in the meantime it's nice to have people to talk to.
@aeva you can have a look here, assuming this is you https://clearsky.app/midnightsisters.org/lists

@jonikorpi 14 lists and 6 blocks wat
@aeva there are some jokers who block the entire network at least, blocked me too
@aeva making a blocklist specifically for aeva
@aeva As I said above, I suspect you're on the opposite, which is a "starter pack"

Tired: social media as a dating site

Wired: social media as the hot new idle game

@aeva Someone may have added you to a "starter pack"? They're collections of users that one can easily follow all at once, and you don't get any notification that you've been added to one / can't even find out which ones you're in without going to a third-party site that crawls their API.

Obviously this is a perfectly good feature with no problems at all, but, even if it had problems, they wouldn't matter in the face of helping flighty new users build up a busy "following" feed quickly.

@klara I am apparently on quite a few of these booster pack things https://clearsky.app/midnightsisters.org/lists
