Puzzle Trail Paul@frinton I quite like Joplin though wish you could export the markdown from the app. Is obsidian also Markdown?
@puzzletrailpaul Yes, Obsidian is markdown. That was important to me too. In fact, it keeps everything in your vault locally on your computer (even if you sync it elsewhere) and all the files are text readable markdown files. They're organized in folders just the way you have it in Obsidian.

Wow, thanks for this! I, too am a slave to Joplin - and love it to death, but I'm finding it's rigidity a trifle limiting in some cases. However, it syncs like a DREAM with @nextcloud, where as it doesn't seem like I can sync for free with Obsidian.

You're probably right about being unable to sync for free with #ObsidianMD. It works fine between desktops and laptops by just putting your vault into a folder that syncs (like with #NextCloud).
The problem comes when you want to sync to a tablet or mobile device. The vault files aren't actually present on the mobile. There's probably a way, but I just paid for Obsidian Sync. I like Obsidian so much that I didn't want to be without it on mobile.
