"You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit their views, which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering."

- Dr Who

@selzero Can't get any more woke than Dr Who.
@TimWardCam @selzero Yep, I'd say already from the start with Waris and Verity at the helm of the show..
@AngelaScholder @selzero My favourite is "Nobody important? Blimey, that's amazing. You know that in nine hundred years of time and space and I've never met anybody who wasn't important before."

@selzero "you realise, that without a bra, you're not going to look like that in 10 years...?"

having said that, major tom would not make that comment.

@selzero

Sorta like how "God" always seems to favor the actions of the people that claim to worship that .

@selzero

Did you know?

#TomBaker’s #companion #Leela (played by #LouiseJameson) wore glasses in real life.

The reason you see him grabbing her so much in action scenes is because she couldn’t see too well without her specs & kept bumping into things.

#DrWho

@John @selzero It's slightly more complicated than that (although you're on the right track). She wore contact lenses which would normally have been OK - but for her first three serials she had to wear brown contacts instead of her prescription ones because the character had been written with brown eyes. Eventually the writers had the character temporarily blinded and lose her eye colour as a way around the problem.
@John @selzero TIL that Leela, who I barely remember but that might be due to being my first Dr Who series and I was terrified, was later Bergerac's Mrs and who I quite fancied when I was watching as a teen.
@selzero My favorite Doctor. ✌🏻
@selzero "Coming to power is a costly business: power makes stupid."
@selzero @ChrisMayLA6 One of my favourite Who quotes!
@selzero That story was so flipping good, bad costumes, "Z9 Electron Packs" and all.

@selzero

Yes, very uncomfortable indeed...

@selzero Was great to see Louise with the screening of Horror of Fang Rock in February.
Tom is only very occasionally attending some event.

Met him a few times, one time at the NEC on a Sunday where we later heard Elisabeth had also been there on the Saturday, but had other obligations on the Sunday. Alas..
