@stroughtonsmith @Alphacheez @siracusa @caseyliss @marcoarment er yes, it’s a sauna for the mind
Ooh I’m going with that
@chucker @stroughtonsmith @Alphacheez Yep. For me, it’s super handy for the times I choose it for sleep-listening — finding your place is, as yet, an unsolved technology problem
Generally though it’s cycle-touring-exercise
@stroughtonsmith what madness is this!? How do you keep track of which chapter you haven’t listened to? This would terrify me (I’m a completionist).
I use chapters to skip a chapter I’m not interested in (which happens rarely).
@stroughtonsmith Because it’s fun! Don’t be a curmudgeon. :)
(Wasn’t my work, but I wish it was!)
@caseyliss you know people use chapters for navigation, right? They're not just decorative 😅 Would you replace all the labels in your apps with emoji on April fools?
…actually don't answer that 😂
I'm glad I don't have to rely on VoiceOver
@stroughtonsmith with respect, I think you’re getting unnecessarily grumpy about a one-time gag.
If it becomes a regular thing, then sure, kvetch all you want. But it won’t.
Let people have fun. :)
@jakif @caseyliss @stroughtonsmith TIL I’m weird for listening to podcasts at 1x from beginning to end.
1. How do you people watch TV? Is everything a Benny Hill chase scene?
2. How do you people read books? Just the chapters whose titles you like?
@pvanb @jakif 1) ‘watch TV’? TV shows, often on YouTube or Twitch, at 1.25 or 1.5x speed. 2) I listen to books… at 1.5x
Podcasts are 90% filler and ads. Fine if you have nothing else to do, but if I'm doing something like cook or walk the dog, which has a specific duration, I want to pick the topics that fit. I'm not 'sitting down to listen to a podcast’ in that case
The emoji showed up in Apple CarPlay and I quite enjoyed them. I don’t usually look at my podcast - I guess I ignore it while driving - so now I’ll notice chapter titles more.
