Spoiler: that happens even to rural identifying people in cities, so "rural" as a selfidentifier is a proxy for antiintelectualism, so people smoke more, don't get vaccines,... and die sooner.

As for stupid... some believe that is a an intellectual judgement, however it is one based on their actions. They are the person who repeatedly grabs the electric fence with a clear danger label "just to check". They have memory of a goldfish so consequences of their stupidity just do not change them. When your feelings are more important than verified, objective facts (yes, the US has a long history of, um, being an imperfect union. And global warming is real. And tax cuts have never paid for themselves.)

I could go on, but why? The point is that conservatives place their feelings higher than reality.

@georgelakoff This is the truth. Just having a college education, at any level, makes you an enemy of conservatives without any political or economic consideration at all. They refuse to believe that thinking is a good thing, and is free for all.
