To be clear, I posted this so other friends and folks in other US states are aware just how out-of-control the Arizona school vouchers have endangered the public schools. This Roosevelt school district is about 5 square miles. That quote is from the school board president. 29 CHARTER SCHOOLS AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS in this school district. Because the GOP here wants to destroy public schools. Every voucher used immediately takes that amount per student OUT of the public school funding.

@cobalt I hope people figure out that school vouchers are a right wing project to destroy public schools because public schools are integrated and don't indoctrinate children into christianity. I don't want my taxes used for some wing nut's private school!

@Nonya_Bidniss People have figured that out here BUT decided it's far more important to have"school choice" (how vouchers are promoted). All these charter schools and private schools suddenly got going, because they too contributed their propaganda to get "free money" from the state. So many scams going on with new schools here. Also popular: online schools that collect voucher money. Many people I know around this area know the real name for what is going on - segregation. Because racism.

@Nonya_Bidniss @cobalt Are they right-wing or rather sympathisers of the late Confederacy, when we're considering the fact, that arch-Republican, U.S. Army General & President Ulysses S. Grant was a strong advocate of public schools:

"Establish and forever maintain free public schools adequate to the education of all the children in the rudimentary branches within their respective limits, irrespective of sex, color, birthplace, or religions."
