Security firms are being inundated with calls from CEOs fearing for their lives since the UnitedHealthcare CEO was killed.

A reminder that 68K people die annually due to lack of care & 500K suffer medical bankruptcy—& every one of them fears for their lives & well being every second of every single day.

@QasimRashid And they thought Trump would make new jobs.
@QasimRashid It must be hard to live in a primitive country like the USA.
@Frank_Engelhard @QasimRashid it is, I fucking hat living in a third world country with a Gucci handbag.

@QasimRashid Surprising (?) that the oilygarchs/media (not referencing you) haven't clued in that most people care as much about the CEO as he cared about them.
Seems like a Sheriff of Nottingham vs Robin Hood situation.

Like to see more coverage of the poor woman who fell in the sinkhole looking for her cat, more worthwhile.

@QasimRashid I hope the shareholders feel the CEO's constant demands for more funds for security are eating into their profits and cut them loose.
AIs can do that job, easily.
@QasimRashid step one if you’re targeting a corporate CEO. Join their security team. you know those cheap ass bastards aren’t gonna properly vet their security team. They’re a corporation they cut corners wherever they can.
@QasimRashid yes but the ceo's case deserves our concern since they fear death by rogue deranged strangers, whereas sick folks get side swiped by well designed well oiled made in america institutional machines that many profit from.
@QasimRashid The GOP and their "health care plan in two weeks" bullshit is what killed that CEO Unitedhealthcare profiteer.
@QasimRashid Elmo and others have been criticizing some within the community for their lack of empathy towards the CEO. We don't condone violence but please don't expect us to host a celebration of life vigil for the guy.
@QasimRashid Yep they'll hire more stooges to take a bullet for them,figured as much.
@QasimRashid At no point any of these CEOs asked themselves if they are being assholes or not. They went straight to same entitlement they are used to. They are entitled to the massive paychecks at expense of others. At no point they thought "we shouldn't literally legally kill people for money".

@QasimRashid - The late and former MP for Ebbw Vale and son of Tredegar might have had a thing or two to say about US-style "heath care":

"No society can legitimately call itself civilized if a sick person is denied medical aid because of lack of means."

@QasimRashid late stage capitalism
@QasimRashid one big difference: ones fear for their lives, the others fear for their life and suffer their illnesses.
@QasimRashid Are they now? How would you know that? Private security firms are a notoriously tight lipped bunch. As a matter of prudence & practice.
@QasimRashid all in all, this feels like a good thing. I am not condoning killing people in any way - but since fear is what a lot of global actors use to excert control, it is just that they get some in return as well.
(I am obviously referring to your first paragraph, the second is just fucking sad and a devastating consequence of the failure of our civilization)

@QasimRashid It seems Cory Doctorow's Novella RADICALIZED is having a moment. It came out in paperback in 2020. It's in a compilation by the same name.

The problem with the CEO in NYC is that now all the other CEOs are gonna hire security which makes them harder targets. So there will be bigger hits with deader security teams or they change tactics. Maybe Work From Home will come back, but without a pandemic this time.

@QasimRashid Both need to be borne in mind. I'm very uncomfortable with the number of people out there saying he deserved to be murdered.
@QasimRashid The case for a National Health Service is undeniable.
@QasimRashid
Gee I wonder how they will manage to fund the addition cost of security...
