It's very difficult to resist an implicit challenge. If you ask me, how would I do Star Wars Jedi in Starforged? At some point, I have to sit down and figure it out. If I'm going to sit down and figure it out, I'm going to show it to you.

@InfinityDevil One of the best parts of Sundered Isles is something that no one seems to talk about but me, and that is the cargo/trading/ledger system. It's a little bit more tracking to keep up with the valuable items that you find/acquire, and then use them as trade for goods and services that you need (like improving your supply, repairing the ship, etc.)
It sounds like that would be tedious, but because the hold is relatively small and the values can be relatively high, you can get into some really interesting situations, especially when you have something that you know isn't going to be something you can move everywhere you go.
If you were looking to lean into the #TravellerRPG experience, which is something I've always loved historically and probably think is my favorite set of tropes alongside mecha, then the actual tracking of cargo and wealth and making it be important to the narrative is right there. But I think I'm the only one who cares.

@InfinityDevil Frankly, I love them. #Starsmith does some really excellent work, not just in concept and execution, but in the presentation, which all too often goes by the wayside. I have a lot of stuff from them—low cost, high payoff.
Frankly, the mecha design system itself is one of the better ones I've ever seen, and I have entire shelves of mecha games. It's part of why it gets pride of place alongside the other covers there.
Remember, "Cargo hauling" is just the more polite term for "running drugs, guns, and fresh extracted organs across planetary boundaries." If you can't do that and have fun, you're not trying.
@InfinityDevil A little bit. I'm currently trying to pull together a #Starforged game on a friend's Discord. We'll see how that goes.
Previous efforts have gone pretty well, though you really need to play with other people who are on the ball, paying attention, and want to play the game.
People who are used to the more traditional game architecture tend to check out half the time, and you just can't do that. I consider that a plus, but some other people have considered that to be simply too demanding. But they feel that way about a lot of the GMless games I introduce.
So it is what it is, I suppose.
The interplay of multiple people pursuing slightly divergent character goals and one of the most exciting things that you can have on the table at all. I strongly support and suggest it.
