@Sinistar7510 @lamp2 it's clearly visible in the video. It's the short "light" that looks like it's glowing blue. Likely because it includes infrared & the CCD of the camera filming is picking that up. You can see the orthogonal green light up high as it pans to our protagonist.
Maybe it's made up, guess there will just have to be some science done. But this particular question is easily observed and answered.
Assume the camera has a 32gb sd card: 1 million.
@Life_is @catsalad What resolution do they shoot at?
My thinking was the photos would be in some kind of RAW format at around 8 Megapixels so file size would be perhaps 10Mb. Then red light cameras take 2 photos of the vehicle. So 32GB card would hold only 200 events.
But surely they'd store more otherwise they'd have to be servicing them too often.
At least in Germany it is a black and white image and probably actually infra red.
Very likely you can find the actual data sheets of these cameras at the websites of the vendors.
@mwyman this was my thought too! It's likely fully automated, so if one added a fake number plate with a valid number, that person could possibly get a ticket in the mail with a picture of shopping-cart-guy as proof.
Would be fun to fight that in court: "Um this isn't me, and is not even a car?" @catsalad
