Continuing my long running playlist on Cohost #theforeverplaylist here on Mastodon, The Place Where Some Things Are Happening. https://web.archive.org/web/20241004142029/https://cohost.org/MayaGay/post/7901881-thank-you-for-listen
Thank you for listening to The Forever Playlist!

Probably not gonna get in another song before everything goes good night. This basically started as a way for me to archive enough songs so I can have a pretty good mix for work, but honestly just curating something I am sure that only I ever cared about forced me to listen to a good deal of music and helped me seek out newer stuff I probably never would have otherwise, so we will call this a big win. I made a giant master playlist of all the songs I've ever posted RIGHT HERE!! [https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEKzAl2vuyx_pRDbH7f8sPzBxFI9zM67Y] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypkoiLWfKL0&list=PLEKzAl2vuyx_pRDbH7f8sPzBxFI9zM67Y&index=1 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypkoiLWfKL0&list=PLEKzAl2vuyx_pRDbH7f8sPzBxFI9zM67Y&index=1] These are mostly in order, although due to link rot and videos going private there are some that I had to re add and didn't bother finding the right spot for cause, c'mon, there are like 600 songs on there and YouTube playlist UI is terrible. There are also some songs that I posted here but never were released on YouTube! They are: "Red Borough" by Gibbons [https://gibbonsband.bandcamp.com/track/red-borough]: I found this EP in a coffee shop in my neighborhood, so perhaps no surprise it never jumped to YouTube. There used to be a live version filmed in a bar with 60 views, but that looks like it went away. "Victoria" by Greg Byrd [https://gregbyrd.bandcamp.com/track/victoria]: This is by a person I know in real life! A beautiful song, honestly. If I could I would play this on every radio station. "Pixel Sky" by TGH [https://tghsrmusic.bandcamp.com/track/pixel-sky]: Discovered this one right on Cohost [https://cohost.org/TGH/post/1044058-pixel-sky-is-out-n]! I wish I had been able to find more music on this site. You have less than 24 hours to show me something new in the comments. "WE ARE THE TROLLS" by Spettro Family [https://spettrofamily.bandcamp.com/track/we-are-the-trolls]: Was trolling Bandcamp for Halloween music and this whole album honestly fucks. I am an easy mark for John Carpenter ripoff music (as evidenced by the multiple [https://cohost.org/MayaGay/post/1313309-angel-s-asylum-joh] times [https://cohost.org/MayaGay/post/3064110-chariots-of-pumpkins] John Carpenter showed up [https://cohost.org/MayaGay/post/6824439-my-name-is-death-j] on The Forever Playlist.) "Fuck Around & Find Out" by Gibbons [https://gibbonsband.bandcamp.com/track/fuck-around-and-find-out]: Gibbons again. They are very good! "Wyvernlore" by Here Be Dragons [https://herebedragonsds.bandcamp.com/track/wyvernlore?action=download]: I will be completely honest, I think bardcore is pretty lame and this is toeing that line. But this song captured me, it's very Gormenghast. I probably was reading Titus Groan when I posted this. "Negotiation" by Kshiraki [https://kshiraki2.bandcamp.com/track/negotiation]: Almost 90% sure I found this on Cohost too. Sounds like Ace Attorney music when there is a quirky character who is accused of murder but isn't the real killer, a Max Galactica type. "Norfolk Afternoon" by Alan Licht & Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe [https://alanlicht.bandcamp.com/track/norfolk-afternoon]: Alan Licht is pretty cool! Pretty sure I heard of him from Tom Scharpling years ago. I have discovered the hard way almost nobody cares about long ambient pieces unless they are done by Andre 3000 so I recommend checking out Love Child [https://lovechild12xu.bandcamp.com/album/never-meant-to-be] to get a better idea of what Alan Licht is all about. "Surfing With The Invisible Man" by Shango [https://shangosurf.bandcamp.com/track/surfing-with-the-invisible-man] and "Jellysploosh" by Seawhorse [https://seawhorserva.bandcamp.com/track/jellysploosh]: Both of these surfaced on Bandcamp after I was trying to get into a surfer rock thing, stuff that wouldn't be out of place in a Russ Meyer movie. Didn't find much, and honestly don't think either of these tracks are that great. Oh well!! "This Whole World" by American Spring [https://archive.org/details/american-spring-plus-cd/American+Spring...+Plus+(American+Spring)/08+-+This+Whole+World.flac]: The only song all these years I uploaded myself to the website [https://cohost.org/MayaGay/post/2936522-this-whole-world-a] cause this album (one of Brian Wilson's side projects) is impossible to find! The whole album is on Archive though, well worth a listen. "Felt the Sphere" by Masanori Nozawa [https://mediummusiclabel.bandcamp.com/track/felt-the-sphere-album-ver]: Oh wow, this one rules! Totally forgot about it till just now. See, this is why it's important to revisit things like this. "Back To Me" by Koojo The Artist [https://koojo.bandcamp.com/track/back-to-me]: This song is so good. I would like to hear a lot more from Koojo "Holding" by Z-Pac [https://11pmrecords.bandcamp.com/track/holding]: This was in a list of acts coming out of Philly and I listened to it then and thought it was interesting. Honestly, that's what I really care about, just something that peaks my interest somehow. Maybe they'll just release this one song then burn out and teach Spanish at the local high school, but the beauty of art, any art, is the fact that it makes connections with people and lasts within memory much longer than anybody can ever anticipate. A special shout out to @Badman [https://cohost.org/Badman/post/669832-road-to-nowhere-ta] for being the only person to my knowledge that submitted a song to The Forever Playlist, an option that was always open and none of you motherfuckers ever took advantage of. Well go suck eggs, the website is dead and you can never go back. It was "Road To Nowhere" by Talking Heads [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQiOA7euaYA]. Pretty good choice. I will probably keep adding songs to that YouTube playlist till the heat end of the universe/I get bored. Maybe I'll keep it up on Mastodon, give me something to do on there. Anyway, have fun friends!
