The wet season is upon us. Not a fan… That being said: I am pretty well equipped, when it comes to rain gear. Only thing missing is something to protect my eyes/face during heavy rain. I know there are bike helmets with visors. Do you, dear reader, have any recommendations or other ideas in that regard? Please let me know.

Observing light and shadow. Yesterday I was complaining about the rain, but this morning it was actually quite nice, so I stopped by Gruga for a short (photo) walk before heading to the office. Leica released a new full-frame camera yesterday, that comes with a fixed 43mm lens. I've never gotten used to this weird in-between-35-and-50 focal length. Whenever I use the 27mm pancake on my X-T5 (which is a ~40mm equivalent) and lift up the camera to my eye, I am always surprised that I am either too close or too far away from the subject. I am so used to either 35 or 50, that I know exactly where to stand even before raising the camera to take the photo. 40, however, always trips me up.

Waiting for the bus. We took a short trip to visit my wife's extended family today. As we didn't make it to Turkey this year (for the first time since 2019), I wasn't able to continue my Aile project. This was an opportunity to at least add a couple of pictures without traveling too far.

We had a great weekend with the family. Took the photos above, while waiting for our train at Heidelberg main station. Now posting this from the train, which was on time. (Not kidding! I hope I didn't jinx the rest of the trip, now that I've said it. 🙈) The WordPress drama keeps intensifying by the day. I fear that the damage done will affect the community for years to come. What a shame.

Another Gruga visit. Feeding the goats at the petting zoo. Almost missed today's post, because I was working away on improving my WordPress to Kirby export plugin. I think I am ready to move my other blog over to Kirby as well, so I need to make some changes that will cover regular pages as well as different post formats. It's coming along nicely. I hope I'll be able to release an updated – and much improved – version of the plugin soon.

What a strange day. I feel kind of anxious. Didn't dare to open Mastodon (which is the only social media I consume). I'll just share a link to this post and that's it. The feeling of anxiety is probably compounded by the fact that I won't see my kids for two days, because – and this, on the other hand, is a very happy occastion – I made my way to Berlin to once more document beyond tellerrand, which will happen tomorrow and the day after. (There are still tickets available!) Anyways, the hotel is very pink.

This is Ferdi. He played some Johnny Cash and Elvis and had a great voice, too. From our short conversation I learned that this is how he earns his living. In these situtations I always try to stop and listen for a couple of minutes (if I like the music). This makes it less awkward for other people to also stop and listen. 😊

In Frankfurt with Claudio for our end-of-year Haptiq meet-up. It is no secret that I am very apprehensive when it comes to LLMs. However, earlier today Claudio showed me some very cool stuff, he has built with the help of – his almost namesake – Claude. So I caved in and created an account to try it myself. 🫣 I mean, it surely can help with simple tasks, no?
