#WarOnTerrorism #Terrorism #AntiTerrorism #LawsAgainstTerrorism

Here on Mastodon I witness people asking why "supporting Palestine" and "genocide" is so much trouble on media systems.

After September 11, 2001 #NATO - "NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in its history after the 9/11 terrorist attacks against the United States." there were 18 countries that were allies of the United States of America in NATO.

Laws of ALL kinds were passed against terrorism in response!

I have brain damage from all these "mass mind" topics. All these group behaviors & group thinking systems. My brain damage centers around people acting as if mob mentality isn't a problem, a crisis, and the basis of a lot of warfare. out-group hate, national flag waving and cheering of domination of one nation over another, and general "us vs. them".

I argue that billions of years of evolution on Earth have been harsh, and it is nightmare we have to "wake up" from. We are birthed into conflict

To try and advance the topic, I guess I'll throw out a perspective I try to hold: where you are born isn't a choice. If you are born in Iran in 1985 you are going to have a different perspective than if you are born in California USA in 1985. "Iran is about 4.1 times bigger than California."

Then there is schools you went to, autism brain I have, etc. We do NOT get to choose a lot of these things. Even the spoken language and religion of our own parents.

It is a BIG MESS we are born into.

it is a RELATIVELY SHORT period of time in world-wide technology history that we have had airplanes, telephones. let's say 1825, only 200 years, that crossing the ocean and being able to send a written letter and have it translated from language to language started to become significant.

Only since 1950 have airports and telephones become something everyday people in the world start to witness and utilize. And the Apple iPhone / modern smartphone really only took off in 2008, less than 20 years

I say all this, because in 2008 I started to dust off the academic concept of "Comparative Mythology", comparing the stories of religion across time and geography. I was facing a divorce at age 38 and I started to think a lot about my own personal concepts of "eternity", "until death do we part" in marriage and love that I had at say age 17 in high school. But I also wasn't real happy with #WorldHateAffairs in 2008 and Twitter, Reddit, Facebook were taking off. 2006 Twitter, 2007 Apple iPhone...

My personal respond to divorce / failed marriage and terrorism of September 11, 2001 was to focus more and more attention to "Comparative Mythology", religion to religion.

A couple of messages back I mentioned ships and airports. Sea ports and air ports. How long has it really been that people could travel to other places in the world? And everyday people could marry, divorce, and mingle? Purchase an airline ticket, go to another religion house, go visit a wedding, things like that. NOT LONG!

Even back in 2004 I lived in South America, Chile. Part of the reason I choose Chile was for technical reasons. We had no children and my wife insisted we take a dog with us if I wanted to go live overseas to get experience in another culture. And Chile had some of the more favorable laws about pets and quarantine rules. But in the months I spent planning and selecting Arica, Chile - I also realized I met few people in USA from Chile in 2003 and earlier. So the lack of familiarity attracted me.
In 2004, I was not a tourist in Arica, Chile - I worked from home on computers just like I had done in Seattle in 2001 when the terrorists attacked NYC the day my parents went to the airport at 9:00am. We didn't go clubbing every night, we didn't go on trips on the ocean, we just lived everyday life in another country. Grocery shopping, going to the local cinema a few times, a few day trips to other nearby cities. We would meet people, share meals, etc. I wanted to experience "normalcy".

Back in 1999 - 2008, a big thing with my travel in RV was reading what people said on the Internet, reviews and suggestions, and comparing them to the real thing. Kind of like YouTube people who unbox products and evaluate what they are really like. But I would do this with cities, restaurants, grocery stores, public library, etc. And I wouldn't share it, I just considered it part of my adult education.

What did the travel book SAY about food vs. actual first-hand experience. Same with Chile.

I didn't go to fancy places, I didn't take a lot of photos if other people had already taken lots of photos, I didn't write reviews for places that already had plenty of reviews, etc. I mostly just wanted to see what "the Internet said" or "a book says" vs. reality.

At the time I wasn't super serous about it. It was just a motivation that I liked learning and reading and trying to get a sense of how other people related to photographs, words, pictures, TV of remote places.

My divorce in 2008 / 2009 as I'm turning 40 was a huge deal to me intellectually and religion wise. I wasn't that serious about religion as an adult, nor was my wife, but I was disappointed that my wife didn't want to communicate and change the course of our marriage. You see, I got married at age 30, my wife was 32 when she married me. We were not "young kids", this was our first marriage, and we had lived together 3 years BEFORE we got married.

I found out about my autism during my divorce.

I thought my choice to have a marriage without children was odd, but I didn't realize how much it was related to having autism my whole life. I also realized why I worked from home for the previous decade, as socially I couldn't cope with high-pressure work environments day in and day out since age 30. Long-term burnout. It wasn't a coincidence I had made the choice to work at home in late 1999, it was my then unknown autism.

ok, #RoundSparrowToDo - I can't finish this. Today problem. Worn out.

Back then in 2009 "Wrong Planet" was probably THE BIGGEST online autism support community. I got books from Amazon / public library about autism, and I read a lot of "Wrong Planet".

And having already lived in Arica, Chile (South America) and all over the USA in an RV travel working from home, I connected with the metaphor of "wrong planet". And well, my divorce, my wife just didn't want to talk about "what was wrong" and "what needed to change" - communications conflicts abounded. Autism.

Before the divorce, my wife and I had settled in the Austin / San Antonio Texas area. And with the smartphone revolution / Apple iPhone in July 2007, by 2009 Austin was SWIMMING in technology. Twitter in 2006, Facebook in 2006, Reddit in 2005, YouTube 2005. The Apple iPhone in 2007 set all this ON FIRE. And Austin "South by Southwest", SXSW, was a big deal in 2008 and 2009... as was the city itself growing like crazy. Startups everywhere. "Work from Home", co-working, social media life.

I never went to remote university, I went to the Fort Wayne, Indiana branch of Purdue / Indiana IPFW for just a couple semesters. My two older brothers had gone away from home to live in dormitory and frat houses, I never had that experience. I didn't even finish university, I was a published author and had a stellar resume at age 22, I had more experience than the professors.

Austin, divorced in 2009 was like college. I spent one summer renting an apartment near the university.

Spider House - I see they are closed and changing. Back in 2008 and 2009, I had no car - I would ride the bus, use Car2Go and walk a lot in Austin. https://austin.eater.com/2022/1/31/22910030/spider-house-cafe-closed-austin-new-bar-opening-campus

#JellyWorkAtHome group for people who worked at home. http://workatjelly.com/ And like back in Dallas in 1994 - when I met my first wife - dating was great in Austin in 2009. I met three women I dated for months in Austin. I was looking for love and to get remarried, but this time armed with autism books / knowledge.

Austin Cafe Spider House Is Closed Permanently

North Campus cafe Spider House is closed but will be turned into a new coffee shop and bar by the owners of East Austin bars Hotel Vegas, Yellow Jacket Social Club, and Kinda Tropical

Ok, so I am really going to try to stop. I have a half dozen topics going in this thread and I can't pull them all together.

I do actually want to get back to Comparative Mythology, world religions, terrorism after September 11, and marriage systems and how they relate to world peace (Tristan and Isolde in James Joyce's Finnegans Wake, Phoenix Park Dublin)....

The past few years, I wonder if my brain damage will let me finish anything the way I have it in my mind's eye. Take care.

And I'm drinking coffee / caffeine for the first time in several months, and it helps in some areas of my thinking and communicating, but also I find I want to write a book every day - but I also don't want to write a book.

I HAVE written books. I have trashed the last two books I wrote on social topics because I'm sick of reading other people's "good enough" books that people ignore. I want Peter Pomerantsev to be famous. I want a revival of Neil Postman. I'm burned out, worn out.

I could blog, long form, I could edit what I write more, organize it better. It isn't a skill issue, it's a burnout issue. And I could also shut up, silence myself, squelch my messages.

I am being as sincere and earnest as I can. I am HUGE, BIG TIME, into "Mass Mind", and "Mass Man", and it's driving me crazy. As in in-the-hospital multiple times crazy.

There are plenty of machines around, smartphones and cloud computers. People seem afraid of humanism, compassion. Frustrates me, sincerely.

And Malala, the 2024 avoidance of societies world-wide of Malala frustrates me. Malala is already doing Hollywood stuff to raise her profile / attention, but she should not have to. Terrorism alone, girls / women education ALONE should motivate people to quote Malalaa, speak of Malala, and join in the same concerns.

If people can't follow leaders like Malala, I get incredibly frustrated in 2024. And my frustration is sincere. I do not even have children and I am constantly alarmed about future.

And, being born in the USA, having traveled and lived all over USA, and being a product of USA society - I have to say "Elon Musk 2024", "Donald Trump 2024", "JD Vance 2024"... these are the leaders people are following? Alex Jones as leader? QAnon as leader?

I'm alarmed, I am in a state of perpetual alarm. Again, i don't even have children, but the USA is off the rails. The IDEAS, the POPULARITY of self-destruction and hate concern and bother me constantly. It isn't fun, I find little joy now.

All the bullshit in the USA. Does anybody in USA ASK WHY McDonald's has to advertise in 2024. Everybody knows where McDonald's is down the street. Why do you have to be reminded and stimulated to over-eat junk food?

Why in 2024 does Donald Trump need to be holding campaign rallies? Do people forget that AFTER he was elected, he STILL campaigned? Year round, all the time, signs by Trumpism ?

The president is already running for re-election, spending campaign cash at Trump businesses

On Inauguration Day, President Trump filed the paperwork to be an official candidate for re-election. Now he's holding his first big fundraiser of the campaign at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, highlighting the flow of campaign cash into his organization. John Yang reports.

PBS News

These are the things that give me brain damage. McDonald's advertising and marketing to me my entire lifetime. Donald Trump advertising and marketing to me every single day since March 2013.

It is a NOISE, it is a SIGNAL, it DROWNS OUT Public Discourse.

Neil Postman was CORRECT in 1985, way back in 1985, when he published "Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business"

Russia won hearts + minds since March 2013 by USA people NOT picking up Neil Postman's 1985 books

Constant messages to worship Trump, constant memes to worship Putin, constant signals to worship the GOP / Republican brand, constant messages to promote Christianity as the ONE AND ONLY religion, and constant messages since October 7, 2023 to promote Jewish religion... NOISE, Jamming brains, wrecking dialog.

"Americans spend more on politics and political campaigns than any other nation on Earth, and the 2020 election once again rewrote the fundraising record books."
