I’ve thought a lot, with dread, about the fact that even if Harris prevails, I have to share a country with all those who vote for Donald. But the show of support for Harris, here and elsewhere, is and will be a powerful reminder that I share the country with millions of people who understand the stakes of this election and the strengths of Kamala Harris.
@heidilifeldman This is such a wonderful way to look at the bright side.
@heidilifeldman We've always shared the country with those awful people. But they used to feel they couldn't get away with letting their fascist flag fly. Trump convinced them there was no penalty for going full Nazi. We'll always have them, but my dream is we'll be able to chase them back under their rock.

@heidilifeldman amen. A big reason why I deleted my Twitter today and focusing all my "social" energy here.

Mastodon reminds me that there are good people still here.

Twitter was making me feel depressed and hopeless

@heidilifeldman

November, 2016, I had the thought "I'm going to be fighting these fuckers until I die" (I'm clinging on to still being called middle aged 😬)

This isn't over if (when!!!!) Harris wins. There is still a lot to do to Restore Democracy. It's less well defined than "win an election", but I'm hoping that after a deserved rest many of us will start that.

A serious punch is aimed past the point of contact. We're going to beat the fascists.

@heidilifeldman My mom grew up under segregation. We can beat these assholes.

@heidilifeldman

That will also be a renewed reminder to those people that their attitudes and behavior are not welcome nor tolerated here. The Paradox of Tolerance will get a beat-down long overdue.

@heidilifeldman If we have learned anything from history, is that throughout its course there have been tyrants coveting power and fools who follow them. I have faith that we are slowly evolving into a more tolerant and accepting human race, and these reactionary dimwits will disappear eventually.
@heidilifeldman
Trump has to be sentenced and shown as to what justice is . All his cronies also can't be off the chain. They must pay a price, including Congress people involved with J6.
We will need to replace Garland to do that.
@heidilifeldman I hear you Heidi - Last night at his election therapy stop in Princeton, Borowitz addressed the fact that half the country bizarrely supports something this apparently evil. He pointed to the fact that 50/50 is common. One example he gave, Grant vs Seymour, first pres election to take place after CW. Seymour platform was pro-slavery. Grant decisively won the electoral vote, but his margin was narrower in the popular vote.
Somehow his examples made me breathe easier:)
