Upton of #StJoseph, who served 36yrs in the US #House, is the highest profile #Republican in #Michigan to publicly back #KamalaHarris.
#FredUpton has often split his ticket, but this year was his first time voting for a #Democrat for #president, which he already did by absentee ballot, he said.
He spoke Wednesday w/ #KamalaHarris' running mate, Minnesota Gov #TimWalz, w/whom Upton served in the #House for 12yrs. Upton said he is convinced a #Harris admin would seek the counsel of #Republicans & work across the aisle to tackle urgent issues from #immigration to #inflation to #Ukraine.

The Upton name is a big deal in this part of Michigan. Fred’s great-uncle Louis Upton founded Fortune 500 company Whirlpool Corporation in St. Joseph, MI. His supporting Harris will have a big impact in this part of Michigan.
