It's finally time. After years of deliberation, #Minetest is finally ready to adopt a new identity and prove it has moved beyond its original purpose. We can finally move past the "mining" and the "testing" and focus on making this platform the best it can be.

@Minetest Will Luanti be capable of making other types of games?

I already use it for purposes beyond the standard mine and forge.

Ex. Creating experimental biomes and textures. I use it mainly to prototype 2D games for Gobot and RPG Maker.

@Minetest congratulations on the name change. It's been awhile since I've played but it really is so easy to mod I've modded it. I made the TNT into super powerful atomic bomb TNT that almost crashes the server it's really fun

Does using `core` instead of `minetest` already work or do I have to wait for 5.10 before I switch it in my mods code?

Will some offshoot decide to pick up luanti.net and set up a confusing presence there? IDK

@Minetest Oh well, I was hoping for some name referencing Mese, one of the original materials introduced in Minetest Game and already referenced in some popular mods (such as Mesecons), but it's still clever, and a lot better than "OpenWhatever" and "LibreWhatever" type of names.

And apart from that, such thing is very subjective and it's impossible to make everyone like the name. I'm sure I will get used to it, and I hope others will too.
