@fmhilton I think I've read to the end of around 50 books this year. I have the Kindle app on my phone and read any time I'm in a doctor's office or waiting on something etc.
@fmhilton it was F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Tales Of The Jazz Age." I used to own a physical second printing. I read it on my 14-year-old Kindle
@fmhilton
Did you really mean 'Year' and not 'Week'?
@nikatjef @fmhilton I'd only answer yes to that one occasionally - it takes me around a month to get through a book, unless it's very short.

@fmhilton

I've read 105 books in 2024, so far.

It's mostly light reading. I need distraction from the dumpster fire of these election year.

@fmhilton 1 book? You're kidding, right? Let's make that 80.
@fmhilton
Have I started and finished at least 1 book? Yes. In addition to the 1 finished, have I not finished multiple other books? Also yes. 🫠
@bayport @fmhilton Ha! That would be a fun poll. How many books have you started but not finished this year. #Books #Bookstodon

@Pineywoozle @bayport @fmhilton Three DNF. But compare that to the 205 I have read!!
@Kay @bayport @fmhilton lol I’m compulsive, I finish even the bad ones.😜 Although I did throw one in the bin a couple of years ago when I realized the author was MAGA & he couldn’t keep his MAGA views out of his sci-fi LoL
@fmhilton today, in fact. Probably every two days.
@fmhilton did you say week or year?
@fmhilton : Read to "the end" is shaming my ADHD towering stack of "in-progress" books next to my bed!

@pjf @fmhilton

Why stack them *next to* the bed?
The reason that beds are larger than humans is so you can have your in-progress books Right There™ in bed with you.

What do you do if you finish a book on a freezing cold night when you're all snuggly toasty?
Disturb the covers to reach for the stack next to the bed? 😱
Philistine!!

@fmhilton 64 so far and this was a very light year for me. I’m typically around 90 total.
@fmhilton I average 12 books a year. This year I'm way below because War and Peace is taking forever.
@fmhilton
Finally read "Kafka on the Shore"
@fmhilton multiple paper books, with my eyes
@fmhilton this survey could be improved. I mean, how many people would answer if they had NOT read a book to the end? Then I assume there are people who have read 50 books, but in between what is the distribution?
@fmhilton My most recent book read to the end was @scalzi 's "Starter Villain", which was really fun. I have at least five sitting around in various stages of incompleteness. I don't read as many complete books as I used to, lots of articles and papers.
@fmhilton @lydiaschoch love 2 hit the wrong button and submit by accident when scrolling 😂
@fmhilton I mostly read technical administration guides, and they never F’ing end. Ever.
@fmhilton a LOT more than one. Can't imagine reading only one book a year.
@fmhilton At least one book? I read about a book every day and a half. So far this year I am up to 164

@fmhilton

I read at least one fiction book a week, plus weekends I have nonfiction I read, maybe a book a month.
