I don't understand how anyone can be anything but outraged at the existence of billionaires. The whole concept is horrific.

#ClassWar #Anarchism #Socialism #Capitalism

@indubitablyodin their very existence should be unthinkable.
@indubitablyodin That's easy: The young imagine they might one day be one, the old hope their grandchildren will be.

@indubitablyodin I feel a special amount of horror just thinking in the amount of people in the world desperate to be a billionaire.

Now THAT'S scary.

@javipoloxyz along the same lines, I've heard that it's not even that enjoyable for the billionaires themselves. Am I right here? @indubitablyodin
@catswhocode @indubitablyodin I guess you are, but I guess too many people with money problems rely on that hope to solve them all for once... And then: Surprise. Even if it happens!

@catswhocode @javipoloxyz There have been studies that show there's a possible upper limit to relative happiness and pleasure from financial gain alone - probably why they keep seeking more and more excessive habits. An article I just read about a private island for billionaires off Florida highlighted just how paranoid their wealth has made them (and all those of similar ilk) and how the more they wall themselves away the more they create terror in their lives.

So, on one hand, yeah.

But I also think there are people who relish the ability to abuse their power - who like being cruel and who like being in control. For them, it's probably not the money that brings happiness but rather the power that the money allows them to wield.

@indubitablyodin We are fed with images of people having it all and idolize them in all kinds of media. It sells and therefore it perpetuates.
@indubitablyodin
What specifically bothers you?
Is it the value of assets the
ey own?
If they provided billions of value don't they deserve it?
@abilewitz @indubitablyodin To what end? Pro- or anti-social?
Can't speak for OP, but that dichotomy is part of why I can think of no reason to accumulate except to use it in times of need for those in need.
Exercising advantage reduces the other's resources, ironically creating debt for the exploiter. Leveraging advantage lifts both. Two down versus two up.
@abilewitz I see it as an inherent act of violence that goes against what every spiritual tradition in history, every tenet of humanism, and my own good common sense say is right. And nobody "creates" billions in value singlehandedly, not even close.
@indubitablyodin The ant envies the boot that steps on it. "If I was on the other end of this interaction it would be amazing, I aspire to be a boot one day."
@indubitablyodin I don't care about how much money somebody else has. They should enjoy their lifestyle in luxury all they want. But I do care about them not paying taxes and interfering with the process of democracy.

@indubitablyodin

Are you suggesting the work of a doctor that just saved your life is worth more than a 1000000th of the work of The One and True Elon??

Blasphemer!
