#Mastodon "feels" empty because you have to put effort into finding people to interact with. Profiles and content aren't served on a silver platter. Though it can feel frustrating at times, it makes interactions with other users a lot more enjoyable and authentic. It's made me realize how much my internet use is otherwise determined by ads, bots, and algorithms #fediverse #indieweb #openweb #feditips

@xavierhayesmuth May I add that all algorithms aren’t bad. With good intentions algorithms can be used to bring people together with good intentions.

There are also some functions on other SM-platforms that I do miss here. For example to possibility to quote a post with my own comment.
For me as a city planner that was a good way to highlight something while adding my view to people who follow me. Now I can only comment on it & people who follow me do not see the original post

@xavierhayesmuth bingo. Didn't really feel empty for long at all either, once you start searching and poking around, stuff starts to appear. Killer insight on the ads & algo.
@xavierhayesmuth Following hashtags that you're interested in, is a good way to find interesting people in the #Fediverse #FediTips
