This is a little strange...

Does the AI narrator's voice in this video sound like anyone you've heard before?

@geerlingguy Their email seems to [email protected] so let's all send demands to stop this.
@geerlingguy How on earth do they think this was a good idea to steal someone's voice ?

@caseyneiba @geerlingguy

"Everybody else is doing it..."

@geerlingguy yep, it does

In your place, I’m not sure I’d have recognized my own voice

@geerlingguy sounds like Riddick, doesn't it?
@Bene @geerlingguy They say most of your brain shuts down during cryo-sleep. All but the primitive side, the cpu side. No wonder I'm stuck in S3.
@geerlingguy This is outrageous if I stumbled upon it - I would have assumed you had done a co-lab.

@geerlingguy so that's how Red Shirt Jeff makes a buck for soon-to-be-sawed RPis ;d

In all seriousness, hope you've gave them permission to AI-ize your voice?

@rampantKitteh nope. Definitely not pleased. If they did a funny bit or something, and got permission, that would be one thing... but this ain't that.
@geerlingguy guess it's the first time that copyright claim might get used in non-trolling fashion... Give it a try
@geerlingguy will you make a Video about it?
@geerlingguy they stole your voice

@Ragenau @geerlingguy
Unless they produce a similarly sounding himan.

Is there a way to surely tell? I.e. even if human is prodiced. There is something for images.

@geerlingguy Ridiculously uncool of Elecrow. Litigating international law is already difficult, but it’s even harder to get anything done in China. Elecrow is located in Shenzhen. About the best you can do is ask them nicely to stop and/or copyright strike their videos.

My wife also suggests that you complain to Google more directly. If you have access to a lawyer friend, you might also ask them to compose a Cease & Desist to make it as legal as possible.

@geerlingguy Elecrow seems to be an electronics vendor. A quick check finds AI-narrated videos.

@geerlingguy

Not sure if impressed, or just appalled...

@geerlingguy anything we can do to help?
@geerlingguy wow that is literally your voice.

@geerlingguy

first video on the channel seems to be you as well, have you checked all the videos yet?

@davedarko no, yikes. Will have to dig in. Do you have a link to that video?

@talktech @geerlingguy

it seems like they've used the voice in this video series (blue and green fade in the background) and at least the other series with the ESP32 HDMI tutorial.

@talktech @geerlingguy
This video sound is clear Jeff.
@geerlingguy Good grief. Scary. Do let us know if / how we can help.
@geerlingguy That is creepy as hell, not ok.
