Beautiful #Olomouc has a nice tram network with mostly single carriages (at least on weekends). Unfortunately, the branch to Nová Ulice is closed until the end of 2024, so I couldn't do all lines. #Vlakend
There are many stations with an underpass to an island platform. However, if your train is departing from a track in between, you cannot use the underpass and still have to cross the tracks close to the station building. It takes a little getting used to these stations, espacially when the door opens on the side of the trough train tracks by mistake. 🥴 #Vlakend

From Vienna, #ÖBB 's #Nightjet 446 is taking me towards home. Or it should. This time, I have booked a ticket on the new Railjet of the second generation for Vienna-Bregenz. It will be fine, I thought. Until the host of my carriage explained that not one single bed in that carriage can be used. As the train is fully booked, there is no alternative tonight. By the way: NJ 466 to Zurich woudln't have been better. 60 minutes of delay and a downgraded carriage. #Vlakend
Am I disappointed that #ÖBB messed up my #NightJet ride again? 👉 Yes
Am I angry that ÖBB has introduced a new pricing system with higher prices by 2023, but now have quality issues? 👉 Yes
Is ✈️ an alternative to unreliable night trains? 👉 No. I don't want to contribute even more to climate change. In the end, it is my choice of transport mode that counts, not bad decisions by rail operators resulting in poor service. 🌱
But, ÖBB, make sure to improve reliability again before introducing new lines!

#Vlakend was too short, but what else should I have expected?! My inner nerd liked all classic 🇨🇿 DMU, the branch lines and the pleasant atmosphere aboard. However, my more reasonable part of me would be happy if also these lines would get a more modern, sustainable and inclusive rail traffic.

I haven't tooted the details. In this case, pictures are more expressive than documenting every train I have taken. It was in place of many other branch lines I'd suppose.

@larstransportworld if I will ever have the opportunity to board a night train, my journeys would always require four or more train changes so flying is the only realistic option I have, should I also be concerned about the possibility of being downgraded to a non-sleeper, regular train?
