Fall #Ioniq5 refresh has #Tesla port, but no supercharger access yet. #EV

@vij I’m so glad not to be driving an EV in the US. Musk’s penchant for chaos juiced the market at first, but now seems to be dragging it down.

Some founders make good long term operators. He clearly doesn’t.

@Shdwshard Musk is a con man.

At least we get the slim, easy to insert connector in the end.

@vij EV cables are heavy, especially rapid charger cables. There’s a reason Chademo connectors have that deep, heavy, and wide connector. It’s a bad tradeoff IMO. No disagreement from me about Musk though.
@Shdwshard Tesla chargers seem to manage fine, reusing AC pins for DC saves space and weight. The beveled, self-guiding connector is also a boon compared to CCS, which is so fragile to align it seems purposely sabotaged by ICE automakers.

@vij I’ve never used CCS myself, so can’t speak to it in particular. Chademo is CHONKY but feels indestructible and is super satisfying to click in. It was built from the start with 1000v architectures in mind apparently. Shame everywhere else seems to have dumped it.

Also feels like having two separated charge ports is a kind of fail safe if one or the other breaks. That’s the situation here in Japan anyway.
