I don't know why Surkov stopped working with Putin, why Putin sidelined Surkov. I do know that Surkov has insight into the #MonoMyth and seems to have "cracked the monomyth" story pattern without using or referencing James Joyce's Finnegans Wake.
I suspect that Surkov had one goal in mind, what methods of getting people to pay attention worked best. How to get groups to behave when directed, and came into the pattern of the monomyth. It isn't as if Hollywood
never heard of the MonoMyth. Luke Skywalker was put right on the cover of reprints of Joseph Campbell's 1949 book "Hero with a Thousand Faces". But Surkov had an iterative approach of interacting with the domestic population, people in groups, of Russia and #AlmostZero book frames public relations on a scale of experience and puzzle-pieces.
I think Surkov discovered the monomyth on his own. Through experience directing people and seeing the results. But eventually one starts to see what
Howard Bloom describes in his book "The Muhammad Code", published in 2014 (?). Terrorism.
When you start feeding a society ("group thinking", "mob mentality") patterns of messages and symbols as Surkov was directing from the Kremlin - and they are negative in oriented, people become team-oriented and competitive for bad things. Terrorist group vs. warlord vs. terrorist group. What Joseph Campbell in 1987 "Power of Myth" called a "Monster State". But it is worse, you can't turn it around.
James Joyce got to see this in Catholic vs. Protestant in Ireland, and you can see it in terrorism of Shia vs. Sunni / Orthodox vs. everything. I've pointed out Bible verse '1 John 4:20" here in the past year on Mastodon many times, and I point it out again, Surkov and #SurkovStudents
In the USA I can give a simple crude example of the 2000 year old "1 John 4:20" equation: "I love Jesus!! I'm proud of Jesus! But I hate Muslims and I hate Mexicans stealing my jobs". And I have SEEN it.

Hollywood writers won't cross into Finnegans Wake. You don't hear Hollywood writers talk about James Joyce in interviews and how Campbell and McLuhan and others. Even the druggies who have heard of people like Terence McKenna - don't listen to Terence McKenna go on and on about James Joyce! Nor do you hear the druggies mention what Marshall McLuhan had to say about LSD drug ( #hashtag "LazyWake" here).

Like John Lennon and Paul McCartney or many other rock band (Styx falling out with band, etc). Paul Allen and Bill Gates had a falling out (Finnegans Wake "fall" term I'm hammering on).
So I take two possibilties:
1. Surkov and Putin are secretly still best friends and only telling the public that Surkov was "fired" from the Kremlin because it serves some strategic public relations change.
2. Surkov and Putin can't stand each other like a broken rock band where the members hate each other

Even if we stop war and stop hate, our rockets are still going to malfunction and kill people. We are still going to have accidental fires in our houses and apartment buildings. We are still gong to have accidental car wrecks. We are still gong to have accidental virus spreading at the airport to another city!
Educating our way out of HATE and #RenounceWar is not going to make life perfect. We are still going to be alone in the universe arguing over sports teams and video games and still need
medication. But maybe we can stop RED TAPE, and HATING UPON each other, and marriages where people aren't knowing their own self - they can do #ProperYoga with #Buddha teachings and Upanishads included, not just weight-loss and stress-relief and Church visits that don't really give us "love one another and world peace".
There are REAL MARRIAGES, with REAL LOVE, and THEY STILL HAVE PAIN, STILL HAVE PARENTING PROBLEMS! But it is a STEP TOWARDS a better humanity. And we need it now, EVERYBODY!
The WHOLE WORLD needs THE WHOLE WORLD to turn around. Even if we DO NICELY STOP HATE, even if we END ALL WARS, we still are gong to struggle.
But the time is now. The machine learning and artificial intelligence is going to confuse us into monomyth faiths that tug upon our heart strings, military term "Hearts and Minds", from MACHINE LEARNING. And we will NOT KNOW the master that we serve.
Surkov, Putin, can you two please listen to Surkov and his books. And even if Surkov is a broken man now
can you listen to James Joyce and Marshall McLuhan? Can we listen to Carl Sagan and Howard Bloom? Please?

I don't even believe anyone is reading my postings. I figure most only look at Twitter, and wouldn't even bother to delve down into Mastodon. I already know nobody read 1968 "War and Peace in the Global Village" the same way I read it. I already know #PeterPomerantsev is going around being ignored.
I've worked in a health insurance company, plastics factory, steel factory, #PaulAllenGroup offices, my own company, two marriages - I KNOW about Organized #Apathy and have one of my websites on it!
Appealing to the humanity of #Hamas, appealing to the humanity of #Putin - appealing to the humanity of the Pentagon, to organizations. There are a ton of reasons to NOT have faith in any of that. My autistic brain is so broken down. I have that "thousand yard stare" #HundredYearStare of 1924 Finnegans Wake to today. I know how much I am no role model, I have two wives who have made it extremely clear to me that I am no human being to be lecturing people on "love".

When people in China, Russia, USA and so forth were assembling nuclear bombs and pulling out maps and how to counter-attack each other with ICBM systems and writing boos on targeting and how to wreck people... it must have some toxic emotional cost to everyone involved.
I know that the #CIA #NSA have likely done offensive and preemptive things against each other. Rick Roderick in 1993 and other lectures around those years pretty clearly calls out "Unreality" in the 1990 Gulf War years.
And I know #Putin was in the #KGB and saw the horrors #Germany had done in World Wars and defending Russia was important to Putin. I expect just as important as many in the CIA who feel they were defending NATO and the USA.
At some point, what good are our intelligence agencies if we can't face up to just how long the Middle East has been fighting the "1 John 4:20" Bible equation? How we fall in love with stories enough to kill and attack out-groups of other stories? #SurkovStudents have taken
world into a "wasteland" as described by Joseph Campbell in 1987 Power of Myth. And the Middle East of back and forth in anti-science out-group hate patterns. That is what Surkov has unleashed and demonstrated. And As I have said, it is already out there, it was fed into the networks in 2014, 2015, 2016 and so forth.
Does it matter if the CIA or KGB of FSB or NSA or whoever started it! Does it matter in the Middle East who started it! Our brains can be exploited to a point of self-destruction.
The whole world is COPYING, including #Microsoft machine learning, what #Surkov unleashed in domestic Russia 2011 and then exported in 2013... because it works. It drives people into compulsive behavior by feeding them monomyth memes and messages in fragmented patterns that seem to be even more powerful than what terrorists of the past 100 years and classical clergy of religion have found.
It WORKS, and it has been copied, and it is in growing and growing feedback loops!
I don't have a defense against this #MonoMythWarfare - I can't keep the brain exploit from happening on my own. I can't sit like the #Buddha under a tree and wipe it all away. I don't think any of us really can do that, it is incredibly difficult and painful. I don't have a defense.
