@rowyn
What words did the Elf-Queen and Elandarel exchange? I suspect no one else will know.

What price did the Duke pay? He may be anything from mildly embarrassed to dead, and that may not become known either. And from the Elf-Queen's perspective, any price paid was for deceiving herself and her court, not for trespassing against Cassie.

"Mocked" is ... an interesting word choice.

Even if the Duke's plans are at an end, there's a pretty dire culture clash, now possibly worse than before.

@kelkyag
Elandarel: "Nothing I haven't heard from her before."
Elandarel: "The Elf Queen hated the Duke. I am sure she is glad to be rid of him without losing any of her own pawns, though the loss of face annoys her."

@rowyn

Honor, the Duke didn't deny anything, or say anything about what they did or didn't do or know. They just offered a distracting thought.

Would Seeker recognize another witch's familiar as being such?

@kelkyag

Honor: "...yeah the distraction worked on me." 😳
Seeker: "I wouldn't recognize one just at a glance, no. Especially not if some elf had disguised them."

@rowyn
😟
Is that really Seeker?

Cassie had a patient who thought she was a pixie, and was doing her best to play the part -- and that seemed to be caused by accidental exposure to fairy dust, not backed up by a visual glamour. Deliberately altering someone's mind/memories to tell them they were an elf and making them look like one, too, would probably be even more effective. 😟

@kelkyag
Honor: "..."
Honor: "No, that has to be Seeker. I'm sure I'd know if something was wrong with my own familiar."
Honor: "...surely."
@rowyn
I certainly hope you can tell: you have a bond. But check, maybe?
@rowyn
Oh dear.
Trying to follow an elf-led party that's trying to stay hidden while traveling through Glimmerwood has so many ways to go wrong.
Being diverted to see Lady Akisika again might be the least problematic, depending on who else is with her this time.
😟
@kelkyag
Honor: "Were they trying to stay hidden? I thought they were all going together on the idea that the elf-royal would be safe with the adventurers and the Dark Ruler with them, not so that they could be stealthy. But maybe I missed or forgot something else?" 😓
@rowyn
... no, nobody but me said they were trying to stay hidden. Possibly that wouldn't have helped anyway.
@kelkyag
Honor: "Being stealthy seems like the sort of thing the Dark Ruler of the Underlands would be good at, but I don't know if he is or not."
@rowyn
Good suggestion, Fanish!
Hey Honor, guess what kind of power you're likely to casually notice in use?
@kelkyag Honor: "Uh...witchcraft? I don't know? I know I didn't notice all the glamour. Or when Princen Elandarel was undoing the memory magic."
@rowyn
All vegetarian. <tries to remember if that's always how Umbral cooks>
@kelkyag Umbral: "...it's how I always cook for Cassie."
Umbral: "I may have gotten into the habit of meal-planning with Cassie in mind."
Umbral: "But elfs are also usually vegetarian and I knew Yibanathi's elf-friend might be here."
@rowyn
Huh! Interesting that elfs are (usually) vegetarian.
@kelkyag Umbral: "Given their apparent indifference to sapient life, it is a little surprising."
@rowyn
<worries a little about whether that description of the process has Honor leaning a little too hard on Miss Smoke's work>
<wonders whether and/or where Miss Smoke's intentions appear in the process -- certainly she has opinions! -- and whether she's willing to assist in making this potion for this patient>
<detours to wondering about Miss Smoke's intentions>
@kelkyag Honor: "Miss Smoke is the one who told me how much I need to personally be involved with potion-making."
Honor: "...I didn't really think about whether she'd have her own agenda about that."
@rowyn
<hopes the potion is working as Honor intended>
@kelkyag Honor: "Seems to be?" 😬
@rowyn not sure what the point of having the conversation at all is, if the plan is for both of you to forget it immediately
@Satsuma Princen Elandarel: "Obviously, we didn't realize before we had the conversation that having it would be a mistake."
@rowyn adds another person to the waiting list for Honor’s clarity potions
@kelkyag @Satsuma Honor: "...well, I've got six brewing now..."
@rowyn
<relieved>
Elandarel still has a lot of explaining to do, but Umbral going first may help, and they seem to be on that.
<hopes everyone present is on the same metaphorical page soon>
@kelkyag Umbral: *gets Cassie's journal so everyone can be on the same literal page.*
@rowyn
Also useful!
Not enthused about even this theoretically friendly elf knowing where Cassie's journals are, given how much effort various elfs have put into messing with Cassie, but I appreciate that having some solid evidence to point to is useful.
@kelkyag Umbral: "...also I really need to show everyone that I didn't attack their elf guest for no particular reason." 😓

@rowyn
Yes. Perhaps also making the point that erasing someone's memories is an attack as well.

Elandarel did just get rescued from [???], so disguising their location isn't as suspicious as it might be otherwise, but ...

@kelkyag Umbral: "Surely they must know that erasing someone's memories is an attack. But perhaps they have some context I am missing."
@rowyn
I fear the context in question is not counting non-elfs as people. Another possibility is that they use mind manipulation so routinely (including on each other) that it's a triffling offense at most to them.
@kelkyag Princen Elandarel: "Mm. Something of both, I suppose. More the former than the latter."
@rowyn
This is going to be a bumpy conversation.
@kelkyag Princen Elandarel: "Aren't they all."
@rowyn whelp! that’s…honestly a pretty reasonable response so seeing that level of glamour/reality warping going on in Cassies house after she was kidnapped but definitely not a helpful one

@Satsuma Also, Umbral has read the entirety of Cassie's journal *very* recently.

Flickr
@rowyn yeah there’s a lot of “dont trust elves around cassie” in that journal 😬
@Satsuma @rowyn
Elves can change their appearance at will, but how common is that hair color choice? If that's the same elf who bespelled Cassie & made her forget their conversation, they've got a whole lot of explaining to do.
@kelkyag @Satsuma Umbral: "I have never seen this hair color on another person. Elf or otherwise."
