this whole leaving the house to drive thirty minutes to a second location to do work on a similar but separate computer and then returning home is bullshit and we should just not.

@ghorwood

Basically we go to the office and telework there because four years ago we jettisoned hardcopies and conference room meetings. Only the suits still practice those traditions now.

@ghorwood my work went wfh years before the pandemic & it felt like getting a raise not only getting the commute time back but paying for parking also.

@ghorwood Well, most monitors are quite capable to switch pretty fine between 2 computers without any problems, just connect work computer to say HDMI, and private computer to DP, and use the buttons on the monitor.

Or if you are lazy like me, use the auto-switch functionality, and send one computer's outputs to DPMS sleep while switching your keyboard to the other computer.

@ghorwood in my country's case, the drive can last 2 hours!
@ghorwood Exactly! It should always be a choice.
@ghorwood 💯 and for me it's the same computer and I bring it with me
@ghorwood I really wanted more human contact after Covid so I got myself a new job in my local city that I could commute to, so every couple of days I would spend 45 minutes on the bus to go sit in a largely empty office and talk to my colleagues who were all at home by video call and it made me so sad. I miss the days when I could be around other people all day but that's gone now and other things have taken its place, and that's probably ok
@ghorwood So as it turns out, the best place to have fun is at work, and the best place to get work done is at home.
@ghorwood @donni But what about the commercial real estate business??? 😜
