Wish we had enough followers to say "support open-source projects" and 100 people would just reply with "real"

How to contribute

The Godot Engine is free and open-source. Like any community-driven project, we rely on volunteer contributions. On this page we want to showcase the various ways you as users can participate - to ...

Godot Engine documentation
@godotengine signed up to donate monthly. Thanks for all your work!
@godotengine make the docs more accessible for editing and we can talk

@efi honest question, what are the current blockers in your opinion? So the team can have a look

Also, if I you are genuinely interested in technical writing, please join the developer chat, we have a #documentation channel to make the process a bit smoother already!

@godotengine @efi (Changing it from a full git fork and commit and merge request and a corresponding issue to open to a simple wiki or anything you can just edit from your browser would definitely be the way to go to get more contributions imo.)
@lertsenem @godotengine it doesn't need to be a wiki, but a PR is definitely not the most accessible form
@godotengine I am, in all honestly, not capable of participating myself, but I keep pushing people to and they come back with complaints about "how?" "where?" and "who to ask?" that should be much more prominent
I will try to make a list and put that on the channel, see if we can streamline this process
@godotengine @efi I'm currently reading "Working in public" by Nadia Asparouhova and it's given me aa different perspective on the role of open source maintainers and their communities. I think it's an interesting read, but I wish I had a clear way to change the current culture into something that's more (/actually) collaborative. I guess I will get a better understanding on the issue when I get to the later chapters, but so far it's been a good read!
@vgarzareyna boosted as a reading rec! Sounds interesting

@vgarzareyna @godotengine

Thanks for the recommendation! I picked the 2-chapter sample from Kindle and it's been quite a ride so far. If I do have some spare cash, I'll pick up the full ebook version.

@godotengine @efi In case anyone is interested, you can find it as written by Nadia Eghbal since she recently (I think) changed her lastname to Asparouhova
@godotengine willing too support thatπŸ‘
@godotengine donated for over a year every month because i didnt find the button to cancel when money got tight
