Dear Swifties:

The radical theocratic terrorists that targeted the Taylor Swift concert are functionally the same people that want to destroy Israel.

The ideology is the same. The willingness to kill civilians is the same. The goal is the same.

When you support Hamas, you’re supporting the same people that wanted to assassinate Taylor Swift and her fans.

@briannawu … do a lot of Swifties support Hamas??
@reverius42 @briannawu I think she means “condemn genocide in Palestine”, which is equivalent to “support Hamas” in her somewhat twisted world view.
@Colman @reverius42 it’s not a genocide, it’s just war.
@briannawu @reverius42 it’s genocide. One for which they’ve been laying groundwork for a long time. Fundamentalist ethnic/religious nationalists are all the same.
@Colman nope. Actually some of the lowest civilian death ratios for any urban conflict in history. And this is for a war they didn’t start.
@briannawu @Colman Do you hear yourself? "civilian death ratios”, what the hell happened to you?
@mingo @Colman What happened to me was finding out a lot of people on my side are terrorist supporting antisemites.
@briannawu @Colman Well, that definitely sucks, I hope I don't come across that way. Israeli policy can be bad without it being antisemitic. I was 100% in favor of a response to the 7 October attacks, but don't think this is the way to do it.
@mingo @Colman you do.
@briannawu @Colman It pains me that you think that. I have a strong Jewish patrilineal line on my mother’s side and wouldn't be here if a single decision fell the other way in WWII, yet I can still see that what is happening in Gaza is not something to be proud of. In fact, it's disgusting.

@mingo @briannawu criticism of Israel === antisemitism.

The Israeli right and their allies have been working hard to fix that identity and to identify Zionism with Jewishness in American and Western political discourse for decades. That’s how they manage to accuse Israeli Jews of antisemitism for criticising genocide. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Propaganda works.

@mingo Your opinions on I/P are valid but don't try to claim "Jewish authority" on the issue because you have a "strong patrilineal line on my mother's side." That's not how Judaism works and this is just creepy blood quantum BS.

It's transparently cynical - "I have Jewish blood, so my takes on Israel are more valid." no.

@EmilyK I’m not claiming Jewish authority, I just added context to why I am not antisemitic. It’s not about blood, it’s about upbringing.
@mingo No, you're still antisemitic. Having a Jewish grandparent that maybe raised your mom who then raised you isn't "being Jewish." That's as meaningful as saying you're 1/16th Cherokee, so you can wear a war bonnet and it's not racist

@EmilyK I am not saying I am Jewish. What the fuck, stop calling me antisemitic, you don’t even know me. I was hoping discourse would be a little more elevated here.

Again, I mentioned my heritage because it was part of my upbringing and it’s really weird after a lifetime of defending Jews to be accused of being antisemitic because I *also* defend Palestinians.

Please, try to be a little nicer here.
