AUSCost is live!

https://auscost.com.au

This project provides data to help save money on grocery shopping, and hold #colesworth to account for steadily increasing prices.

There's wet paint on it, but the key stuff is in: Logging prices on a lot of products and the ability to create and share your own plots of prices over time.

@tj I'll think you'll find some interesting patterns. In an ideal world, the supermarkets should have to freely provide this data.
@gptreb Yes! This kind of project shouldn't be necessary. Retailers should be compelled to provide historical pricing data as a matter of course.

Great site, Travis. Thank you!
By way of constructive criticism, may I suggest you select colours that are quite distinct from each other?
On the chart for fruit, I can't distinguish between Mandarin & Tomato & bananas are only JUST discernible as a different colour.
I am colour-blind. A significant proportion of men are. Not all as strongly as I am, but still. You can also improve clarity by using different dash types for some. Shades of black is great too 25% 50% etc.

@PetraPanda Thanks very much! I will definitely look into making the lines more differentiable. Accessibility is very important to me, but I mistakenly assumed Grafana's visual designers would've chosen sane defaults. As a stop-gap I've made the lines slightly thicker.

You can also click/tap the legend and plotlines to drill down on that specific data. That might help until I get a proper fix in place.

@tj Great. I'll look at it on my pc. Helps too 🧐

@tj this is great, thank you!

fwiw it'd be worth adding an explicit license file to the repo, just to be clear

@tj looks great. Can help if help needed. I had this hunch that they’d do a ton of bot detection if you webscrape all the time so thought I might do a browser extension to passively grab price data during my shop.
