There is no question about it: Alito, Thomas, Roberts, and the three Trump Supreme Court appointees are all GOP partisan hacks.

Pass term limits. Expand the court. Enact an enforceable code of ethics.

We must keep pushing Democrats to enact court reform. No more excuses.

@rbreich What executive orders can Biden issue between now and January to prevent SCOTUS from stealing the election?
@tutormentor1 @rbreich There probably are none. The administrative branch has no authority over the judicial branch other than the appointment of prosecutors and the federal courts. It takes Congress to pass a law, which then must pass the test of constitutionality or the first court it reaches will throw it back. The ultimate best solution starts also in Congress, which is a constitutional amendment. Congress is currently 50% Republican who are perfectly happy with a corrupt Court. Vote Blue!
@rbreich a real fix.. balanced court for a balanced national court who let's law win, not ideology!

@rbreich

an immune, lame duck president should use his newly minted power of immunity to nullify Citizens United

@nanowiz @rbreich I mean, he could order SEAL team six to eliminate them as a matter of national security.

@rbreich
I think the Supreme Court is a deeply corrupt institution that can't be redeemed.

Every single judge needs to go.

@mathew1927 @rbreich Kagan? Sotomayer? Brown-Jackson?
Actually I do not like Comey Barrett but I do not think she is corrupt.

@PennyG @rbreich
Harsh, but they are guilty of going along with the charade.

I'd be ashamed to sit near the odious judges and be part of that institution.

@rbreich It's not enough, unfortunately. There are some orders I will not follow, even if the Supreme Court says so, just as people in the past have had to endure this nonsense.

@rbreich

Thomas's and Alito's corruption needs to be highlighted in impeachment hearings. They took bribes and then ruled that bribery is A-OK.

@charvaka @rbreich
I'm hopeful that Americans will choose to reform our corrupt SCOTUS by electing a large enough majority of conscientious congresspeople to office this fall.

We can't get Congress to do anything about the SCOTUS until after they've been sworn in next year.

@rbreich
This should be Harris' #1 priority. Nothing else matters while the Republicans have co-opted the Supreme Court.
@rbreich SCROTUS is the yeasty, rancid crotch of the gop criminal cabal.

@rbreich

These should all be charged with abuse of office.

@rbreich
First on the list. Second, make DC and Puerto Rico states so we can ensure Democrat power while we reclaim our democracy from the maga brain dead over the next decades.
@rbreich court packing is a very old communist plot. The justices are just following the Constitution as written.
@rbreich Congress also has the power to reduce the size of the court, naming those who will remain on it.
@rbreich One of the first things President Harris should work towards is the expansion of the SCOTUS, adding 4 more justices, bringing the total to 13. Without an expansion, we're looking at the possibility of 40 years of right-wing extremist control of the nation's highest court. Such an environment would regressively drag the nation backwards, and prevent the sort of meaningful progress we desperately need. Expansion is precedented, and reasonable given the expansion of the lower districts.
@rbreich what’s the argument against term limits for justices anyway?
