I lead the Tutor/Mentor Connection (1993-present) and Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC (2011-present) which are the same org and mission but with different financial structure.

Since 1993 I have been collecting & sharing ideas others can use to fight poverty & inequality & help volunteer-based tutor/mentor orgs in Chicago area grow in more places (including the single tutor/mentor program I led from 1993 to 2011).

..."There is a place in South Texas, 72 miles south of San Antonio, where children are being held in cages: a sprawling complex of trailers and dormitories, run by a private prison company, where toddlers sleep on metal bunks, where food comes with mold and worms, where a baby girl was given ibuprofen for two weeks while she developed COVID, RSV, and pneumonia simultaneously — and no one called it an emergency."...

I just read the 2026 "State of Chicago Youth" report from A Better Chicago. I posted a link on my blog along with my own thoughts. Take a look. https://tutormentor.blogspot.com/2026/04/state-of-chicago-youth-2026-our-kids.html
I included this visualization in an article I posted about #philanthropy, #fundraising & #collaboration among youth-serving organizations. See it at https://tutormentor.blogspot.com/2026/03/25-years-later-funding-still-major.html

the sleep of winter, dreaming -
and sunshine, scheming

No Kings

I do get juiced
To see each boost
And another Puzzler
Comes home to roost!

Thanks to all you kind Fedifolk!

This graphic shows that a Chicago youth-serving org called B.U.I.L.D attended 12 conferences between 1994 and 2015. See a Network Mapping tool created by IVMOOC students at Indiana University. https://tutormentorexchange.net/mapping-participation

I hope this inspires others to track participation and help attendees connect in between conferences.
